Bright Endeavors is a social enterprise that employs young moms, ages 16-24 to hand craft sustainable soy candles with 100% of proceeds going back to the program. Based in Chicago, Bright Endeavors uses locally produced, non-genetically-modified soy wax for their candles; all fragrances are pthalate-free and we use cotton-core, paraffin-free wicks. The program also uses recycled glass containers. We offer a paid, transitional job training program in order to create employment opportunities that allow young moms to open doors to a successful future.

Today’s wedding vendor interview is with Moria of Mail Maid Stamps, based in Madison, Wisconsin! Enjoy:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

I collect vintage postage stamps and curate postage for wedding invitations, save-the-dates, and special occasions. Postage is usually the last detail brides think about when putting together their invitations, but it’s a great opportunity to share some details with your guests about the wedding – whether it’s a color theme, activity, or place you’ve visited with your fiancée. Getting a wedding invitation in the mail is always exciting, but it is even more special when there’s a pretty envelope.

Today’s wedding vendor interview is with Mike Malone, founder of Livestock Framing. Enjoy!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

I’m originally from Oregon, but I moved to NYC after graduating college to pursue a career on Wall Street. I actually enjoyed the experience very much, but over time the urge to try something more entrepreneurial grew stronger. So after 15 years I decided to pull the plug and moved back to Portland to start a company.  A few fits and starts later, Livestock Framing was born. Simply, Livestock is a platform where people can upload their digital photos, and I’ll professionally print, frame and ship them directly to my customers’ door.

Meet a Wedding Favor Vendor in Oakland, CA: Futur-TekToday’s wedding favor vendor interview is with Tom of Futur-Tek, based in Oakland, California! Enjoy:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

I was born in Southern California and raised in the SF Bay Area. Because my father loved camping in Nature and was an amateur inventor, I think I caught both bugs LOL.  I used to drive around  a lot for work and one day I thought how wonderful it would be to enjoy that little bit of  Nature, flowers, on my dash. Then I had a dream about a crystal growing out of a wall and so my first Vase was like a half diamond. When I came up with how it attached, peel-and-stick velcro, I realized they could go most everywhere else! My company, Futur-Tek, is actually a “restartup” as I previously tried to have them made in China. Unfortunately, I had a bad factory go-between and because of the poor communication, uneven quality and lack of money to pursue other avenues, I had to walk away.
