Get to Know a Wedding Photographer: JSL Pictures

Today’s photographer interview is with Jessica of JSL Pictures based in San Francisco, CA! Enjoy:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company

I’ve been working as a photographer for 10 years and was first trained as a commercial photographer in New York. I later went on to pursue my MFA in London and was awarded the European Leica Award. My work has been exhibited throughout the US and Europe. I grew up in Northern California and I was happy to return here after living on the East Coast and overseas. My interest in weddings began in college when I helped a friend out and photographed her wedding. It was slow, gradual transition to solely pursue wedding photography but I prefer it over the other photography work I’ve done.

Today’s real wedding comes to us from Laura of Laura Radniecki Images, base in Brainerd, Minnesota! Here’s what she has to say about the happy couple and their big day:

Tara is from America and Anthony is from England. Tara and her sister were visiting a friend in England and were at church when Tara spotted Anthony for the first time. After noticing how cute he was, Tara leaned over to Leah and whispered loudly, “I like his pants.” Little did Tara know that in England, “pants” usually mean the American equivalent of underwear! But thankfully, Anthony didn’t heard her proclamation. It didn’t take long before Anthony and Tara were introduced and began talking. Things quickly progressed and soon, they were in a long distance relationship across the ocean. Fast forward a few years later, and after hundreds of hours spent on Skype and trips back and forth between America and Europe, their wedding day arrived. On a picturesque Saturday in late May, with guests from Minnesota as well as family and friends from England gathered around them, Tara and Anthony became Mr. and Mrs. Reeson! They broadcasted their wedding ceremony via the internet so their English relatives who couldn’t make the trip to Minnesota were still able to celebrate with them and be a part of the memories.

Today’s real wedding comes to us from stationery designer Meghan Shaughnessy of MLShaughnessy Designs, LLC based in North Brunswick, NJ. Here’s what Nicole, the lovely bride had to say about the wedding:

While planning our wedding, we went the traditional, elegant route incorporating spring colors. Our main focus was having a blast with our family and friends. We knew no matter what that it would be the best day of our lives. We were blessed with a gorgeous day that truly exceeded our expectations! The energy was high, our love for each other was evident, and we couldn’t have asked for more. It was really important to us to honor our grandparents on our wedding day.

Today’s real wedding comes to us from Nicole Amanda Photography, based in Ottawa, ON! Here is the couple’s sweet engagement story as told by the lovely bride:

We were sitting down in my garage and I was sitting on his lap. He started telling me how he went to Chapters [book store] that day and that he was looking through books on tattoos, but that he also found a book of love poems he looked through, and he found a poem that reminded him of me. He told me he bought the book, so I asked to see it.  He got up to get it and when he came back he gave me the book and told me to hold it straight. I said ok, then I sat on his lap again and he told me the page was marked with a marker. I pulled up the marker to find the page and the ring was in a cut out in the book. I was so happy and excited at the same time, it was the sweetest thing ever :)

Real Wedding: Lynette and Matt's Wedding by Amy June Weddings and Events (3)

This beautiful beach themed wedding comes to us from Amy of Amy June Weddings and Events based in San Diego, CA! Here’s Amy to tell us more about the couple and their big day:

Lynette and Matt planned for a beautiful, romantic ocean front wedding day in early August. Unfortunately, they got rained out. We were so fortunate the venue had an empty ballroom and could accommodate the last minute ceremony change to be indoors and keep all the guests dry and comfortable! The couple was still able to go to the beach for outdoor portraits, and got a stunning sunset as a result of the wet weather earlier in the day. Everyone still enjoyed themselves and much fun was had by all!

Real Wedding: Kimi and Mario's Art Museum Wedding by Kathleen Hertel Photography (12)

Today’s real wedding comes to us from Kathleen Hertel Photography, based in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. Here’s more about the wedding and the incredibly sweet engagement story from the lovely bride herself:

We met about 8 years ago at a local bar through mutual friends. I was just out of a long term serious relationship with my son’s father. Of course I was attracted to Mario with his good looks and sweet dance moves. But he is also genuine, kind, caring, funny and an all around good guy. What made me love him even more was how he not only how he treated me, but the way he treats son.
