Today’s featured invitation design is an interpretation of a classic motif — cherry blossoms! Here’s more about the story behind the creation of the invitation from Jennifer of By Invitation Only Designs:
This invitation suite was designed for a shoot held in the Niagara Region, Canada amongst the blossoming cherry blossom trees. We wanted to portray a soft, romantic vintage feel. I like to design unique stationery whenever I get the opportunity, and this was one of the opportunities.
See more after the cut!
I used glamorous gold, sparkly paper as an accent with a champagne shimmer color as my base stock to print on. The colors were gold, soft pink and grey for the fonts. I used soft flowing fonts and simple san serif font to balance the copy. I designed a unique envelope for the invitation and rsvp. On the outside I used a soft pink blossom graphic and added a tiny modern touch with some soft pink chevrons.
I called this set ‘love has blossomed’ and used this tagline on the envelope. It worked perfectly. I picked up the chevron details in the gold paper on the envelope and also on the envelope opening where the guests pull the inserts out. The invitation and rsvp have the same elements with the soft pinks, greys, chevrons and blossom graphic. I also used an unconventional size to continue the unique feel of this stationery design. The rsvp has a perforated line for the guests to tear off and mail that portion back to the bride and groom.
