2. How did you get into wedding planning?
I started my career in event planning in 1999 just prior to graduating from college. During my senior year I had an internship in the Special Events field. I fell in love with the industry. I then was offered a job, where I interned, upon my graduation. From there I gained knowledge in the wedding and event planning industry by working in hotels and venues prior to starting my own business. In 2005, I teamed up with Jessica Meiczinger, my business partner, and old college roommate to start Simply Divine Events. At the time I was recently married and was starting a family. I wanted to be able to work for myself. Jessica was in the industry as well and was ready to take that next step- the timing was perfect.

3. What’s your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is making my client’s dream come true and allowing them to have a stress free wedding day.
4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
Charging too little when just starting out. Be more firm on your pricing and get what you deserve.

5. What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I love spending time with my family. I have two little boys ages 7 and 4. We enjoy swimming, playing outside, going to the beach and just spending quality time together.
6. Any great stories from working with a client?
We have many great stories and have made many lasting friendships with our past clients. One neat story is- I was at a floral meeting with one of my clients and she said that she had to have a pink killarney rose for her mom. The pink killarney rose is the flower from my sorority. Then, we realized we were sorority sisters! Both her and her mom were in the same sorority as I and my mom and sisters. It was a special bond that we had from there on out.

7. What is your current favorite color combination?
I love bold color combinations- pink and orange, blue and green, orange and blue.
8. Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I really love when bride and groom’s incorporate their personalities in their wedding day. I like really push for them to personalize everything from their ceremony to their reception. Make it about them! I want the guests to walk in and leave saying that this wedding really reflected the couple.
