Alisa Marie Designs is our featured stationer today! Alisa just got married last year and started her business due to the success of her own wedding stationery. I love stories like this.
1. How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I planned my destination wedding for June of 2011 and in the beginning of the planning stages I was unable to find any stationery (invitations, save the dates, programs, etc.) that suited my taste. So, I designed everything for my wedding and I received numerous compliments from friends and family that saw my work. Then, I was starting to contacted by a few friends asking if I could do their wedding and then friends of friends and that is how Alisa Marie Designs was developed.
2. What is your favorite color combination?
Right now, I am a stuck on hot pink/fuchsia. I love the combination of fuchsia and tangerine (my wedding colors) and fuchsia and navy.
3. What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
The most unique invitation that I have designed is the various map boarding pass save the dates and invitations. It started with the Dominican Republic and then I kept on getting requests for other maps. So, I have added Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, BVI, St. Lucia and the list goes on.
4. Do you have a favorite typeface?
Yes, I love fonts but I have a few that make the top of my list.
They are: Scriptina, Gabriola, Angelina and Felix Tilting.
5. What is the most bizarre request you have received?
The most bizarre request that I have received was to design a tropical inspired boarding pass save the date for a Texas wedding. Texas and tropical don’t really coincide with each other.
6. Ampersand or the word “and?”
Ampersand for sure! It is just so elegant and chic looking compared to the boring, old word “and”.
7. Any advice for brides?
Yes, enjoy every moment of planning your wedding. It is a day in your life that you will never forget. Also, don’t sweat the small stuff. Things aren’t going to go as you perfectly planned and imagined, but no one else will notice. Enjoy your day and the planning that comes with it because it is YOUR day.
8. Do you offer more than just stationery?
Yes, we just offered a line of personalized and monogrammed items. We now offer personalized iPhone cases, iPad cases, sticky note cubes, water bottles, coasters, cutting boards and more.
