Get to Know a Wedding Stationer: Inside the Envelope (2)

Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Nicole of Inside the Envelope! Check out her Florida invitation below — love it! Enjoy the interview:

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

I started designing invitations immediately after graduating with my design degree. It was sort of by coincidence, as my first invites were for graduation invitations for myself and my friends! Once I started, I knew I loved it and that invitations were my “calling”. Inside the Envelope’s specialty is custom invites, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I absolutely love creating something new and unique for each client that I meet. Everyone has different tastes and styles, so I think custom invitations are a great resource for those who want to stand out.

What is your favorite color combination?

Oh wow, this is a tough one! There are so many great color palettes! A couple of my favorites right now are aqua and coral or red, and navy blue with a subdued yellow.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed? I recently designed a wedding invitation for a destination wedding. It was designed to have a postcard look and feel, and I think it is probably my favorite design thus far! I incorporated the couple’s names and wedding date into a “stamp” that was used on the invite and reply card. It turned out amazing, and my client loved it!

Do you have a favorite typeface?

I am very partial to clean and simple designs, and especially fonts. I love sans serif fonts that are skinny, such as Neutra Text and Geo Sans Light. But I do love to mix those up with a cursive font, such as for the bride and groom’s names.

What is the most bizarre request you have received?

I have been asked to design for a zoo-themed wedding, which was quite interesting.

Ampersand or the word “and?”

Another tough one. I would say it depends on the design, but I am partial to the ampersand. I think there are much more interesting ways to incorporate that symbol than the word “and”.

Any advice for brides?

Stay true to your own style and ideas! I have seen so many brides swayed by others’ opinions. It is YOUR day, and you only get to do it once; don’t let other people make you forget that.

Do you offer more than just stationery?

As of right now, unfortunately no. Hopefully in the future we will be lucky enough to be able to branch out and offer more event planning services!
