Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Rebecca of The Pink Orange, based in Albany, NY! I know this gets repetitive but The Pink Orange has some of my favorite invitation designs ever — see them below, so beautiful!
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I had worked in multiple arenas of design with the most recent being the creative director of a web development firm. I truly missed paper and dimension. I started to freelance to infuse some of that creative into my life. In the meantime my husband proposed to me and I immediately wanted to design for us! I also started designing for friends getting married and the “light” finally went off that stationery design was my destiny! I quit my job and never looked back.

What is your favorite color combination?
That is a hard one because I really enjoy color. However, I love combinations neutrals with unexpected pops of color and metallics are to die for!
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
The most unique is actually a save the date. The design task was to infuse elements from the Grateful Dead into an elegant look for a wedding at the Oheka Castle.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
I love Mrs. Eaves, but hand calligraphy and lettering makes my heart skip a beat!
What is the most bizarre request you have received? To design a snow globe invitation!
Ampersand or the word “and?”
Ampersands are my friend but there are so many lovely fonts that I adore spelling the word out.
Any advice for brides?
To relax and enjoy the ride! Hire professionals that you are comfortable with. They are helping to plan the most important day in your life.
For stationery, my advice is to work on a budget as you would any other aspect of your wedding such as photography and your venue. There are so many fun aspects to stationery and it can really add up. So work this into your budget so your stationer can best help you.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
We do! We love helping with all of the details of the day. We can work on save the dates to invites and then all of the ‘day of’ stationery such as programs, menus, escort cards, napkins, coasters, favor packaging and so much more! The sky is really the limit.
