How did you get into wedding planning?
My passion for wedding planning came with the planning of my own wedding. I had been looking for a new career that I felt truly passionate about and it was not until after my own wedding that I realized it. This career gives me an opportunity to combine my attention to detail and organizational skills with my passion for weddings and beautiful events. I found that I could continue to plan the details of new and unique weddings over and over without having to get married again!
What’s your favorite part of the job?
My absolute favorite part of my job is the moment when all of the wedding party is down the aisle and I am able to watch two people get married. Sometimes amid all of the planning and details, the fact that this is more than just a party gets lost. At the end of the day, a wedding is about bringing two people who love each other together in a beautiful and personal way.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
The biggest lesson I have learned is to trust your gut. If you have a bad feeling about working with a specific vendor or are worried about a certain logistical part of the day, do everything that you can do to make yourself feel better about it. You may find yourself calling a vendor every day to confirm their arrival but at least you will have some peace of mind.
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
Outside of work you can find me spending time with my two maltipoos, Tyson and Pippa, watching reality television or eating Houston’s best tex-mex. I also enjoy travelling with my husband whenever we get the chance!
Any great stories from working with a client?
My favorite story to date is from a bride named Casey. She was working with a limited budget and fell in love with a dress that was out of her price range. She bought another dress and about a month before the wedding her mom surprised her with the dress she originally fell in love with. She looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day! She later donated her other dress to the hospital she works for.
What is your current favorite color combination?
Currently I am loving the mix of white with natural woods and greens. I love the look of distressed wood tables and chairs with lots of white and green flowers and plants for a natural outdoors look.

Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I love anything that makes a wedding personal and unique. I think the best weddings are the ones where the bride and groom could not be replaced by any other couple. Signature drinks, family heirlooms and fun fact cocktail napkins are all unique ways to make a wedding truly personal to the couple. I also love the late night snacks that couples choose to serve. It is the perfect way to end the night for your guests and share some of your favorite foods. I think a tradition that is on its way out is the groom’s cake. While they are always unique and creative, we would rather see brides celebrate their grooms with their favorite desserts. If the groom loves ice cream, why not have a sundae bar or an ice cream cart instead of a groom’s cake!
