Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Maria of Serendipity Paperie, based in Santiago, Chile. Enjoy!
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
Me and my sister, study architecture, we both share a passion for design. We started doing invitations for friends and family, as they requested them as favors for their events. we really started taking things serious when I (Marisa) got engaged, and we decided to design all the stationery for both my wedding and my bridal shower. We really enjoyed doing this project together, and realized we could do this for the long run. Later on we decided to open an Etsy shop with all our designs, and so Serendipity Paperie was conceived.

What is your favorite color combination?
It really depends on the event, for weddings I am crazy about both neutrals, and pastels, right now I’d say rose quartz/blush with white, or ivories are a MUST have!
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
My wedding’s invitation is most definitely the most unique invitation. Where I come from everyone likes over the top, fancy weddings so making my own invitation was interesting because of the rustic, but still romantic feel to it. It was hard to find a balance between the two, but definitely worth the effort.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
It’s hard to choose just one! I have many! I guess it depends on the mood I want to set for the invite, I’d say my top 5 in no particular order would be Bombshell, Octavia Script, Optimus Princeps, Bertham, Lavanderia.
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
Once, a couple asked me design a surrealist wedding invitation, they wanted a skull bride and groom and it had all kinds of surreal artwork on it, it’s definitely one of the most bizarre invitations I’ve made.
Ampersand or the word “and?”
Any advice for brides?
Make sure you enjoy the process and your day, realize everything might not be perfect, some things will go wrong, but the important thing is to enjoy your day and make good memories. Also remember that it’s what comes after the wedding that’s important.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
We also offer wedding advice, inspiration boards, DIY crafts for weddings and more.
