One of the most important steps of planning your wedding is finding a good wedding venue. Having the right venue can mean a lot on your big day and can play a big part in the success and enjoyment of your wedding. Due to the significant role the venue plays, there are certain questions you will want to ask when looking for one. This will ensure that you find just the right place for your big day so that it will be beautiful, comfortable and memorable. Here are a list of things to ask.

Since all couples choose a specific wedding date, one of the biggest questions to ask when searching for your venue is in regard to the dates that are available in the month you are considering for your wedding. That way, if necessary, and if it’s early enough and you don’t have a wedding date set in stone just yet, you can always plan around the schedule of the venue you most prefer.

Keep in mind the number of guests you are most likely to have at your wedding. Ask the wedding venue how many people the place can accommodate. One of the worst things that can happen on your big day is that you are expecting 350 people, but the venue you eventually settle on can only accommodate 300.

Because all businesses want to be paid in a timely manner, it is imperative to ask about the deposit required for any venue, as well as when it is due. Likewise, you should also ask the venue about the entire bill and whether any of it is refundable.

Not all couples have their ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and different places. Therefore, if you are interested in using one venue for both your ceremony and reception, you should absolutely inquire about that when looking for your venue. Some places, like the The Club of Knights in Miami,  have appropriate accommodations for hosting a ceremony, while others may not.

Weather is frequently an issue of which nobody has any control. With that being said, if you and your spouse to be have your hearts set on an outdoor wedding, you may have to have a plan B with the venue just in case the weather takes a negative turn, such as if it rains. This means that, if you were planning on having your ceremony and even your reception outdoors, ask the venue if it is possible to move the party indoors in the event of inclement weather. In the worst case scenario, your guests will certainly appreciate you for your plan B.

Ask the venue about its cake policy. You will want to know whether you can bring in a cake from an outside cake maker or if you can only have one made at the venue itself. Another good question is whether there is a cake cutting fee and if the venue provides utensils for cutting the cake.

Since not everybody shares the same musical tastes, an important question to ask of any venue is if there is a restriction on the types of music that can be played. Ask whether the venue can accommodate a live band or DJ and ask about outlets situated throughout the event space so that it is easier to decide where a band or DJ can be set up.

Ask a prospective venue about the food. That is, you will want to ask if you can hire your own caterer or if the venue has its own preferred caterer.

At the end of the day, if there is any particular wedding venue you really like and think you will most likely go with that one, ask for a proposal of how much everything will cost if you should select that as the space for your big day. That way, you will know ahead of time what to expect in terms of total price.
