How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

I have been designing invitations for a while, I used to just design invitations for my sisters kids birthday parties and baby showers, then started selling those on Etsy. Once that was established i began selling some of my wedding invitations and although most of my wedding work is custom, I have some pre made designs that I sell in my Etsy shop including a nautical invite set, a rustic spring set a country chic set on kraft paper and a lovely vintage rose set, plus more to come very soon!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

Pop the Champagne was founded with one goal—to help couples in whatever area they need. Some brides have the DIY and decor part down but need help with logistics and organization…some are so busy they need an extra set of hands doing all the research and going back and forth with vendors… my goal is to help make the wedding planning process as stress-free and fun as possible!

Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Louma of Design By Louma, coming all the way from Dubai, UAE! Enjoy:

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

My sister asked me to design her wedding invitations, she was not happy with the existing invitation designers in this part of the world (the Middle East) who were printers rather than invitation designers.

Back then I had a full time job as an Art Director in advertising. She received very positive reactions from her guests, and that encouraged me then to design more invitations as a hobby first, and later as my full time business. My advertising background (idea driven) helps me come up with creative concepts for my invitations, and I am trying to change the perception we have here in Dubai that invitations should come only with nice calligraphy & floral details. There’s much more than that, and sometimes not even paper.
