Today’s featured wedding invitation is a beautiful, rustic suite. But wait, there’s more! Custom signage to accompany all of the sweet, thoughtful details of the day. Here’s stationery designer Michael Coxen of Paper and Home to tell us the designs and the inspiration behind them:
Ashley and Brian were married at a Quivira Vineyards and Winery in Healdsburg, California. We worked with their wedding planner, Courtney of When Pigs Fly Events, to help carry out her vision of a barnyard chic wedding.

On the invitation card, we used a mixture of typography, including hand calligraphy accents along with a few custom drawn motifs. On the back side of the invitation, we painted a custom water color of the barn on the Quivira property. Sunflowers were an important element of the wedding.
The bride and groom were wed next to a plethora of beautiful yellow sunflowers. We made sure to incorporate them into the invitation set via the envelope liner and on the backside of a luggage tag / enclosure card. This was presented in their kraft invitation folio along with a quick reference guide, travel details card, schedule of events card, and reply postcard. We utilized hand calligraphy throughout the whole collection, from the invitations to the welcome tote bags.
The planner had lots of fun ideas for signage! We created welcome tags for the tote bags that picked up elements from the invitation design. The bags themselves featured a howling rooster with the phase, “get yo’ cocktail on.” The directional sign was a personal touch featuring key places in the couple’s lives.
Next to that was a funny but appropriate sign, “this may be the wine talking, but I love wine!” The summer in wine country can get a little hot, so Ashley and Brian had sun umbrellas available for their guests. We created a “beat the heat” sign to sit beside them. A number of other barnyard chic cards and signs were set throughout the wedding, including fun “wineamite!” stickers to wear during vineyard tours.
