bride and groom kissing in a field

Rustic chic details abound in this heartwarming barn wedding brought to us by Erin Johnson Photography, based in Minneapolis, MN! Here’s Megan, the lovely bride, to tell us more:

We both knew we wanted to get married in a Barn. The question was which barn. We looked all over Minnesota and Wisconsin, visiting at least 20 different venues. Nothing really stuck out until Dan came across The Enchanted Barn. As soon as I saw the website, I have a feeling that that was the place we were going to start our lives together. We went to visit the barn and it was a done deal. The location was perfect, in between his hometown and my hometown, closer to me so it was easy to make plans, and smack dab in the middle of the country. I consider it a “tiny diamond in a hay stack”.

See more after the cut!

My mother has been a scrapbooker/crafter for years. She has a group of about 4 close girlfriends that get together many times throughout the year and make crafts. They have all been a mother figure in my life for years and they all wanted to be apart of the wedding planning. They came up with the name “The Super Witty Wedding Committee” :) They have all been my decorators.

Almost our entire wedding was a DIY project. My mom searched fabric stores and found my table runner, ended up cutting all the fabric ourselves. The boys sliced some trees for the wood bases. My mom’s friend Heidi made the table flowers and we gathered antlers from friends. Another one of my mom’s friends is a graphic designer so she helped us design all the invites, save the dates, and programs along with our logo (md) which is found throughout the wedding decor.

All the wood signs at the wedding have been made by the boys building them and the girls painting them. Heidi (mom’s friend) made all the desserts from the wedding cake, grooms cake to the cupcake antlers. A group of us girls made the chocolate mudcake (brownies), cheesecake and cookies. Almost everything has been created or envisioned by myself, my mom and the super witty wedding committee.
