Private estate weddings are the answer to brides who ask the question, “Where can I find a unique, out-of-the-box wedding venue?” As a company specialized in managing private estate venues across the U.S and Internationally, we speak to many brides everyday who are completely new to the idea of renting out a private estate for their special day. The truth is the possibilities are endless with private estates! Just take a look at many of our past weddings.
Are you a private estate bride? Here are some basics of what to expect when you choose a private estate as your venue.
Private estate weddings are high-end, luxury affairs. Along with the advantage of being able to rent someone else’s unique home, there are additional considerations that might not come into play at a traditional venue. For example, some banquet halls might already have full catering kitchens. While a private estate may give your caterer access to the kitchen there will definitely be some sort of auxiliary field kitchen built out of sight from your guests. Also everything that comes onto the property must be cleared out of the property at the end of the wedding. Hauling excess waste may be another charge that caterers, florists or rental companies don’t necessarily include in their advertised prices. In case of bad weather, you might have to leave room in the budget to bring in tenting to keep your guests cool, warm or dry for outdoor weddings. Other cost considerations are permit/insurance fee, staffing, and cleaning. Staff includes an on-site event manager who is present to supervise vendors from set-up until breakdown and cleaning fees are to make sure the home is in the same condition as when you first arrive.
The unbeatable advantage of an estate wedding is that there are a wide range of private estates to choose. We work with homeowners who have a variety of properties including impeccable barns, grand mansions, modern penthouses, plantation style properties, or exotic villas. Regardless of where you are looking to get married there is probably an estate nearby, which also means a wide range of sceneries and atmospheres.
If you truly value privacy above every other factor in choosing your wedding venue, private estates promise your own enclosed area accessible to you and your guests only. There won’t be any hotel guests taking a sneak peek of you and your wedding and there won’t be anyone teeing off next to your ceremony site like there might be at a country club. Given that you have 12 hours of property access for the day of your event, your chosen estate becomes exclusively yours. We also only have one or two weddings a month at each estate, so you will know that your “estate manager” will be 100% focused on you and your event. This also means no double-booked events. Guests can relax, enjoy the grounds, and have the concern be only about the one big wedding taking place.
Shuttle Service/ Valet
Perhaps one of the advantages of an estate wedding is that your guests won’t be getting into cars after a night of drinking. We require shuttle service as to not take up street parking in neighborhoods. If it is an expansive property with lots of acreage we do offer valet service for your guests’ convenience. We would hate for a guest to park in a neighbor’s driveway and end up getting towed, so we only offer valet if there is room on the property for parking.
No food & beverage minimums
Without food & beverage minimums raising your overall event cost, you are free to spend your event budget on what you really want. That way you are free to choose an option that perfectly suits your event. Whether you are hosting an intimate dinner for 25 close friends or an elaborate wedding for 250 guests, food and beverage minimums at hotels, resorts, and even restaurants have the ability to consume your budget extremely quickly. There is rarely a restriction to use “in-house” catering, therefore allowing your event endless food & beverage possibilities. Want to bring in food trucks for a retro diner-style event or authentic Indian cuisine complete with Tandoori ovens? No problem– the menu choices & budget are completely up to you.
Unlimited DIY potential
With the growing trend of do-it-yourself event decor, hotels can be somewhat limiting, given that you cannot alter main entrances and public hotel spaces. Private estates give an unlimited amount of options, allowing full creative license to add or adjust any aspect within the property lines. We will answer with an enthusiastic “Yes!” to brides who envision hanging hundreds of twinkling lights off of trees or placing floating candles in the pool.
With the flexibility to use the property as you like, you are almost guaranteed to have an event that looks unlike any other event that has taken place there. Your guests will be electrified by the new surroundings and the unique way in which you have chosen to use the space. There is no need to cover up the existing spaces, only enhancing what is already present. With an estate as your backdrop, there is no such thing as “typical.”
Since private estate venues must obey city noise ordinance laws, music at the majority of our venues must end at 10pm. Although this might sound early, the party doesn’t necessarily have to end then. You could have more time to go out afterward or wind down and spend some quality pre-honeymoon time with your new spouse.
Each bride will need to make their own decision about which venue fits their needs the most. While a venue fee might be higher for an Estate than a Hotel, you could save big in other areas such as food and beverage. You will have to evaluate what is important to you on your big day.
