Today’s featured invitation comes from Design the Details. A lot of handwork was put into this design, and you’ll be sure to agree with me that it was totally worth it. I love the simplicity of the design, which works around the lovely script typeface. What beautiful results! Thanks for sharing it with us, Nicole.
“My inspiration came from using lace throughout the wedding and I wanted to introduce it as soon as the guest opened the envelope. I covered my 3rd backing layer with the lace I was going to use, covering the moss green color to show it peeking through. I then added a second layer of black linen cardstock and topped that with my invitation layer of a metallic white micah.

I wanted the main invite to be simple, elegant, but fun; and of course the FONT used would have to stand out. I drew the dahlia flower by hand to match the dahlia’s I was going to mass throughout the wedding. Using an elegant scripted for the invite and no design, to keep it simple. For the “Details” insert, I used the same invite cardstock color and added a backing of the cardstock from my engagement invites to bring that all together. For the “Response Card” I made it a postcard and brought the same fonts throughout.
To finish the entire invitation, I added a liner of the black linen cardstock from the invite and used the metallic white micah for the envelope.
It originally started out to be an invitation just using all VELLUM to keep it really easy but then it got the best of me and I introduced the lace to it. Let’s just say it was a project but a fun one and was worth it!
