This festive, boho wedding in the woods comes to us from Deziree Dufresne of Deziree’s Photography, based in Denver, CO! Here’s Deziree to tell us more about the happy couple and their beautiful celebration:
Free-spirited, fascinated by the world around them, Kayla and RJ found the perfect venue for their gorgeous wedding at Wellspring Spa, a beautiful woodsy retreat nestled at the foot of Mount Rainier in Ashford, Washington. They choose to forgo having wedding colors, and instead planned their details to revolve around two things they loved: nature and outer space.

Kayla, with the help of her step-mother Char, rocked the do-it-yourself details. Together they made hand-painted signs, potted succulents as party favors, and decorated the tables with wood accents, faux grass, and flowers. As nod to Kayla’s love of space, they created “stars” from foam and sticks painted gold, and the “guest book”, was a globe painted like the night sky, that the guests could sign. They incorporated bright flowers everywhere, perfectly complimenting the couple’s fun-loving personality.
Kayla was the essence of a beautiful, bohemian bride with her flower crown and flowing dress. She even went barefoot for most of the wedding day, wearing only barefoot sandals. RJ showed off his off-beat style, with his suspenders, space-themed tie, and of course, sporting his signature beard that he never shaves off. Even the couple’s wedding rings perfectly fit their own unique style. Custom-made by Chasing Victory shop on Etsy, the rings have perfect wood and mother of pearl details. The bridesmaids all picked their own bright-colored dresses, and the groomsmen matched RJ with suspenders and spacey bow ties.
They exchanged vows at a stone alter in a clearing, while their guests looked on from log seats, decorated with lanterns. For their unity ceremony, Kayla and RJ planted a tree together. Like all the best weddings, RJ and Kayla’s transitioned perfectly from a heartfelt, gorgeous ceremony, to a fun, dance-filled reception. The most important detail to the groom was the food, so the meal was catered by Chipotle, RJ’s all-time favorite restaurant. After dinner, some awesome toasts, and a delicious cake, the couple and their guests danced the night away under the stars.
