Hello and welcome back to our wedding blogger interviews! Today we’re getting to know Emily, one half of the dynamic duo that is Bespoke Bride. Enjoy!
How did you get into wedding blogging?
I was at University at the time, so to make a bit of extra cash I started making eco-friendly wedding stationery. Around the same time, Jess was making her first steps into the world of wedding photography. Jess told me that she would like to start a blog to showcase her photography, and I thought it sounded like a good place to show my products too, so that is really where the journey began.

Where are you located?
We are located just outside a little place called the Forest of Dean in the UK, famous for some awesome films including Harry Potter, Jack & the Giant Slayer, and most recently, Star Wars!
What sites or blogs do you visit daily?
To be honest, we made it a rule when we first started our blog to not try to pay much attention to what other wedding blogs were doing. We found that it really sapped our confidence and creativity, so we like to read lifestyle blogs more now. A Beautiful Mess, Studio DIY and Design Love Fest are just a few of our favourites!
When you aren’t blogging, what are you doing?
It is hard to imagine a time when we are not blogging, but in my spare time I have turned into a bit of a gardener, and I like to go for walks and watch wildlife. Jess can usually be found catching up friends, eating cake, and spending time with her half. Oops I should probably have mentioned that I do all of the above with my other half too, can’t leave him out can we :D
Are you a full-time blogger?
We are both extremely lucky to be able to work on our blog full-time, which happened at the beginning of this year.
What do you look for in wedding submissions? Do you have any tips for photographers who would like to be featured on your blog?
We mainly focus on original, personalised, unique and handmade weddings, so anything with this type of detail goes down a treat. Being quite a bright blog, we also love to feature weddings with a lot of colour and craziness! My top tips would be to submit to blogs that best fit the style of wedding. I think many photographers can get caught up in submitting to the biggest and bestest when that is not always the best option, especially if they haven’t got the right niche audience as maybe a smaller blog would have.
What is your favorite wedding trend?
We try not to get too caught up in trends, but anything personalised, handmade or DIY wins huge bonus points with us.
What wedding trend are you ready to see left behind?
I have to be honest I have seen some pretty dodgy photos of bridesmaids bums going around lately. I just hope no one wants me to do that when I am a bridesmaid — people looking at those photos would run a mile :D
What is your favorite blog post on your site?
Eeeeek that is nearly impossible to answer! We both love to create DIY’s and getting to work together on those has to be the best day of the week. We have also just started a You Tube Channel, which we are both really enjoying!
Best advice for brides?
Be yourselves, don’t let anyone else dictate the style of your day. You are a superstar so don’t be afraid to let people know it :)
