How did you get into wedding photography?
I, Alina, always had a creative niche and enjoyed art. When I received my first DSLR as a gift, I immediately began capturing moments of people’s lives that are considered so dear. My husband, Timothy, began taking pictures alongside me and developed his own passion for photography. Once we got comfortable enough with our brand, we began doing weddings and the rest is history.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day to capture?
Our favorite part of a wedding day is when the bride and groom see each other for the first time, whether it be a first look or the bride walking down the aisle. We always encourage our couples to do a first look so that they can have an intimate moment together before being surrounded by friends and family.
What is the most awkward moment you’ve experienced while on the job?
The most awkward moment that we have experienced while doing photography was one that we would never like to experience again. We arrived at the wedding venue all prepared for the special day that the couple had been dreaming about and half way through the getting ready stage of the day, it suddenly looked like the wedding was not going to take place. We did not know what the next plan of action should be. Should we continue shooting pictures or wait and see how the next few moments were going to play out? When it was all said and done, the bride and groom said their “I DOs” and began their new lives together.
What’s the best thing you ever ate at a wedding?
We can both agree on the answer to this question….we both love chocolate covered strawberries and definitely put a dent in the serving tray.
What is your favorite venue and why?
This is another question that my husband and I are on the same page about. Our absolute favorite venue is Sorella Farms located in the beautiful Evington, Virginia. We love this venue because it encompasses some of the prettiest views you will ever see. This farm has everything from a beautiful pond to and old antique looking barn. Beyond this though, what really attracts us to this venue is the owners. They are the sweetest people and a true joy to work with.
Nikon or Canon?
Nikon all the way!
What is your dream location to shoot a wedding?
Our dream location to shoot a wedding would most definitely be Punta Cana. The breathtaking views and crystal clear water make me want to take some gorgeous pictures.
If you could shoot any celebrity wedding (past, present or future), who would be the lucky couple?
If we could choose one celebrity’s wedding to photograph, it would be Sean Parker. His wedding was absolutely gorgeous and the details were exquisite.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding photographers just getting started?
NEVER photograph a session without having the models sign a model release FIRST. It does not matter if they are a friend, family member, or complete stranger. If you do not have their signature on paper allowing you to use the pictures from the shoot, you are very limited as to what you can do with them.
