Today’s photographer interview is with Nick of photography duo Nick Wild Photography based in UK and Cyprus. Enjoy!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company:

Hello! I’m Nick Wild, a UK & Cyprus based wedding & portrait photographer. Together with my partner Aimie Flack, we specialise in capturing the real moments from weddings. I grew up in Ascot, Surrey but now live in Paphos, Cyprus and photograph weddings right across the whole of the UK, Cyprus and internationally. The world is our oyster, as they say.

At Nick Wild Photography, our team has a huge enthusiasm for shooting weddings, and it is this that has allowed us to pursue our own personal contemporary documentary wedding style.

How did you get into wedding photography?

Back in 2008 I was at a wedding and I watched the wedding photographer all day. I asked how he did it and took that information away, and taught myself for the next few years before going out and shooting couples big days. I learned to understand people and how light works with nightclub photography where you need to be on the ball all the time. Aimie also started in nightclubs but quickly we started working as a couple at weddings and this is where we both love to be, right in the action.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day to capture?

The bridal prep is always our favorite part, all the way through to the end of the ceremony. We just love the time we have to create awesome photos with the dress and all the brides little details, and of course, the first look from her father. The ceremony for the pure emotion that can show and the couples photoshoot for our time to shoot them in a relaxed manner and in our own style.

What is the most awkward moment you’ve experienced while on the job?

With weddings you have to stay professional at all times, but when your trousers split that’s quite awkward! I now take a back up pair and also a spare shirt.

What’s the best thing you ever ate at a wedding?

Rivervale Barn does a pretty mean leg of lamb. Melt in the mouth food! If it’s not posh nosh then a nice juicy burger always goes down well.

What is your favorite venue and why?

Rivervale Barn is right up there. It’s a purpose built wedding venue that focuses on the couple and also the suppliers who work there! Fantastic. For a location wedding we just worked at Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay. WOW WOW WOW we could have been in the Caribbean.

Nikon or Canon?

Nikon all the way! We both use the D4.

What is your dream location to shoot a wedding?

Right now our sights are firmly set on shooting a wedding in the 5 star Thanos Resort of the Anassa here in Cyprus. If it could be anywhere else, we would love to be the private photographers at a couple’s elopement in a unique remote part of Iceland. The landscapes are just AMAZING and we would love to pose a couple under the Northern lights.

If you could shoot any celebrity wedding (past, present or future), who would be the lucky couple?

Jay-Z and Beyonce or Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne. The glamour for the first and then the fun fun fun of the Osbournes!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding photographers just getting started?

Back up equipment and specialist insurance cover. Don’t even think about doing weddings without it!
