Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
Hi! I’m the proud owner of Yasmen Katrina Events, a comprehensive wedding planning company that takes the pressure out of your planning. I absolutely adore helping couples and brides-to-be design their big day. Nothing gives me a greater thrill than seeing a beautiful bride walk down the aisle, meeting the loving gaze of her handsome groom.

How did you get into wedding planning?
I have always wanted to be a wedding planner since I was a little girl. I first got into the industry by working alongside a wedding planner for a few years and then decided to branch off and start my own business.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
I love everything about my job. My favorite part, however, would have to be making the lifelong dreams of my couples come to life, and seeing their reaction when they first see their event design space. I also love hearing the proposal stories.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
Listen to your clients and make sure you are telling their story. Take time to connect with each client and make sure they feel supported and invested in the planning path that you have taken with them.
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I love going to the beach and am a travel junkie. I love photography and spend any spare time I can get taking pictures. Spending quality time with my family is also a must.
Any great stories from working with a client?
I love working with all of my couples. Each couple is unique and it’s important to me to remain close to them after their wedding. My favorite part at each wedding is the beautiful moment just after the ceremony when the couple walk away as husband and wife with big grins on their faces — makes me tear up every time!
What is your current favorite color combination?
At the moment my favorite color combination is blush and gold.
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I love the personal trends which add details that are unique to the couple. Incorporating design elements that reflect the couple’s journey is what makes the event special. I would love to see the cake in the face tradition left behind. It’s very dated — and that beautiful make up should not be smudged!
Thanks Yasmen! By the way, I totally agree with you about the cake in the face! For more about Yasmen Katrina Events, please visit her WeddingLovely Vendor Guide profile or head straight to her website.
