Today’s stationer interview is with Allison, the founder of Invitation Consultants based in Tampa, FL! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I started Invitation Consultants 15 years ago on a whim. I was thinking of starting a side business, and paper seemed like something fun! When I was laid off from my marketing position, it soon turned into the full-time gig. I wish my story was something more exciting, but really the everyday is the most exciting part, not how I got here.

What is your favorite color combination?
Right now it’s coral and grey. It reminds me of a salty and sweet combination. A little serious combined with a spark.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
The most unique invitation we ever designed was for the MTV Movie Awards for a backstage event. We tested the limits of shape and size and were very happy with the result.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
I have so many, and can never truly be faithful to one because new ones are coming out all the time. Emily Lime is a favorite right now.
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
There are so many through the past 15 years I have lost track. Probably the most bizarre was to do an invitation for a wedding at a cemetery in May, not even a Hallowedding, it was a spring one!
Ampersand or the word “and?”
Ampersand because less is more!
Any advice for brides?
Don’t concern yourself with the wedding ‘trends’! Don’t do something just because it is trendy, but don’t not do something that you love because it’s become popular.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
Yes, we not only design invitations, but we have fun other products like notepads, coasters, paper placemats, and stampers.
