Get to Know a Wedding Stationer: Tree of Hearts

Today’s stationer interview is with Lisa from Tree of Hearts, based in Bridgnorth, England! Enjoy:

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

I began working in the wedding invitations industry in 2004 after organising my own wedding. It inspired me to want to help other people overcome some of the problems we’d experienced during our stationery planning. I also found it to be rather expensive, so set out to offer quality wedding stationery at more affordable prices.

What is your favourite colour combination?

I love the combination of pale pink, lilac and purple – I had these colours at my own wedding

What is the most unique invitation you have designed?

Vintage Bunting & Love Birds has probably been the most unique invitation designed by Tree of Hearts. It is a new design for 2014 and can be printed in any one of the 30 colours off our bespoke colour palette, offering great versatility. What’s different about this design is that you can personalise your initials on the ‘jam jar tea light holders’ suspended from the bunting – it adds that extra special something to your invites and has been a real hit with our customers!

Do you have a favourite typeface?

I love traditional fonts like ‘English’ and ‘Georgia’, they are timeless.

What is the most bizarre request you have received?

The most unusual request we’ve had was for the Birds In Love Wedding Invitation. The bride requested we put blue eyes, hot pink stilettos, a pink dress and hot pink lipstick on the left bird and green eyes and football boots on the right bird … here is the outcome!

Ampersand or the word “and?”

For me, I think it depends on the context in which it’s being used. On invitations and personalised guest books I would always recommend the ‘ampersand’.

Any advice for brides?

Be organised, write a list of everything you will need for your big day.
Work out a budget and stick to it, it’s very easy to get carried away!
Allow yourself plenty of time, mistakes are more likely to happen when you rush.
Any finally enjoy every little part of your special day
