I’m so excited to share today’s interview with Luxe Event Productions. We’ve shared the great Portland area bridal event that their team puts together, so it was nice to finally meet the people behind all that hard work! Thank you Misty for your interview! We loved learning more about you today.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
Ok so I am one of those “crazy” people who always knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I’ve had a passion for hospitality my whole life. With more than fifteen years of professional experience and a degree in the hospitality industry, event management is second nature for me .
Plain and simple, I am completely smitten by life’s celebrations and I love a good party.

In my career I have produced some very large-scale events with thousands of people in attendance and even did motivational speaking for a few years. However I couldn’t help throughout the years to be so drawn to the intimate events like weddings, baby showers, birthdays, cocktail soirees and dinner parties.
I think one of the most heartwarming sounds in the world is when you hear the “happy birthday” song in the distance. Whenever I hear it in the background of a restaurant I can’t help but smile. Celebrating and inspiring others is important to me, so much a passion in my life that even after years in the same industry I still can say ” I absolutely adore my career”.
I must confess I am the ultimate dreamer. I’m a hugger and totally obsessed with love. I adore my career and the journey life has given me. Because of all this I am a light-hearted person who loves to make new friends and gets giddy when offered a chance to be creative. Luxe is my dream and I am humbled to be able to do something I love all while sharing it with others.
Since the company’s inception in 2008, I’ve been featured as a local wedding expert on local television shows including KATU’s AM Northwest, KOIN 6’s Studio 6, MORE Good Day Oregon on Fox 12 as well as Wedding Portland Style.

2. How did you get into wedding planning?
I planned events professionally for years, wedding planning was a way I could express creativity and original design concepts.
3. What’s your favorite part of the job?
Helping people conceptualize their dreams; bringing all their inspirations to life all awhile staying in their budget and seeing their faces on the day of the event is priceless to me.
4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
It takes hard work, countless hours and time to achieve success with your wedding planning business. Take it one day at a time and build a foundation first before you ever take on clients.
5. What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I am a foodie! LOVE dining, so the hubby and I love trying new places, new cocktails and dishes. We’re either going out to eat somewhere new or cooking a new recipe together at home. Other than that I love to travel and take as many trips a year as possible!
6. Any great stories from working with a client?
Ahhh there’s so many I wouldn’t possibly know where to begin, we have special moments with every client. We seriously are blessed with the coolest clients!!!
7. What is your current favorite color combination?
I am really in love with a few: gold and blush with navy, loving yellow too!
8. Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I love the idea of a heavy hors d’oeuvres party, no sit down dinner rather many food stations and creative entertainment. Love passed canapes while guests are mingling and enjoying photo booths, character artists and magicians. Ooo! And I love the late night snack idea. There are so many fun options too! Basically I love when couples are authentic to themselves and plan a party according to their personalities
