Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Lynn of Dear LC | Invitations + Paper Goods based in Worcester, MA! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I studied graphic design in school and have always loved stationery, but never thought about doing wedding invitations until a friend of mine asked me to design hers. It was such a fun process that, after a few word of mouth clients, I decided to turn it into a business and I’ve been loving it ever since.

What is your favorite color combination?
I absolutely LOVE navy paired with a pale pink…stunning! Although black and white is always a classic.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
I actually worked with a couple last year on their vow renewal ceremony. This was a really great experience to be a part of. The couple was celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. This couple had gotten married young and could afford a big wedding so they really wanted this to be “the wedding they never had”. My favorite piece their save the date which used a photo from their wedding 25 years ago! It was really interesting to see a photo from 25 years ago turned into a save the date that a bride today might choose.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
Futura, definitely. I’m using it in my own wedding invitations and it’s used in a majority of my designs. It’s so clean and doesn’t take attention away from even the most ornate scripts.
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
I actually created a flip-book save the date. It was really cute! A cute stick-figure guy and gal walk down the street and then circle their wedding date on a calendar. I think the finished piece was about 100 pages!
Ampersand or the word “and?”
Depends! I tend to use “and” for more formal occasions and/or pieces and I’ll throw an ampersand in there for more casual occasions. Often times, if the bride and groom are already living together, we’ll use their nicknames and an ampersand on their return address. I think it adds a little fun and familiarity to the wedding invitations.
Any advice for brides?
It’s ok if you don’t know exactly what you want. I have a lot of brides that come to me not knowing what they want their wedding invitations to look like and that’s ok. Some people know exactly what they want and others don’t. My job is to help you figure out what that is and turn it into the invitation of your dreams. You’re not a bad bride if you haven’t had the exact idea in your head since you were five – if that were the case we’d all be marrying Zack Morris so our wedding theme would obviously be Bayside High.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
Of course! I usually tell my brides that “if it can be put on paper…I can do it”. But it really extends to much more than that, I’m here to help fill whatever needs my clients might have. I’m currently working on a line of reception items (cocktail napkins, cocktail stirrers, drink flags…and much, much more!) to match my existing Collection as well as my new Collection which will be coming out at the end of the year. I also have a line of “Future Mrs.” iPhone cases on my website that have been really popular – such a fun way to show off your new relationship status!
