Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Ruth Loewen of Enchanted Moments – Invitations & Cards, based in Manitoba, Canada! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I love being creative and art / graphics design has always been a big part of my life. As a stay at home mother of 3 (now 4) children I was looking for something I could do from home to bring in a little extra income but that would also allow for me to express my creativity. After designing some baby shower invitations for family I instantly knew that this was what I wanted to do. I enjoyed designing stationery so much and grew very passionate about ideas and techniques of paper artistry. In 2009 I opened my in home design studio, Enchanted Moments – Invitations & Cards, never dreaming that it would become the success it is today! Enchanted Moments has evolved from it’s humble beginnings to become an internationally known stationery studio with clients from across the globe. The creative possibilities are endless and I so enjoy working with couples to make their dream wedding invitations a reality.

What is your favorite color combination?
My absolute favorite color combination is deep purple, champagne and ivory. It gives such a rich yet traditional feel to a wedding and LOVE how the colors complement each other.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
I think I would have to say that it would be my Autumn Glory invitation. The outer card base is a gate fold with an angle cut at the top of each flap so that a monogram of the couple’s names can be seen when the invite is both closed and open. The silk leaves on the front of the invitation I have custom manufactured to my own specifications. On the back of this invitation I often put a crisscross ribbon card pocket which is my design signature, unique only to my studio.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
My all time favorite font is Poem script. I am a fancy kind of gal and this font has it all! Beautiful swirls, elegant letters and a range of alternative character styles for each letter. I love it!
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
I once got a request for wedding invitations done in hot pink and in the shape of a pig.
Ampersand or the word “and?”
Ampersand…I love the look of them.
Any advice for brides?
I think the best advice I can give would be to think ahead and make sure you order well in advance. Stationers will often book up and if you wait too long to book your invitations then they may not be available for your dates.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
Yes, in addition to our invitations and stationery, we also offer things such as matching favour boxes, seating charts and custom cloth covered guest books.
