Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Stephanie Herr of Exquisitely Announce, based in Lancaster, PA! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
It all started in 2006, when a friend asked me to design her wedding invitations. I graduated with a BFA in Art and Design from Millersville University, and at the time I was working as a graphic designer at a local advertising agency. With many resources at my disposal, I knew I could help her and create what she needed. I accepted her request and created her entire invitation package. This was unlike any job I had worked on in the past. Being able to bring someone’s stationery dreams to life felt so rewarding, and I was honored she chose me to announce one of the most special times of her life. Hearing how ecstatic and speechless she and her guests were about the invitations led me to begin designing stationery for other people as well.

Over the next couple of years, as word spread and more people heard about my wedding invitations, inquiries starting coming from all over, and before I knew it, I was creating a handful of invitations per year. In August of 2001, when my husband and I received news we were going to be parents, we made some changes in our lives and developed a plan so I could retire from my corporate job and turn my hobby into a career. A career I could work from home while raising our little one. In November of 2011, Exquisitely Announce made its joyous debut providing beautiful, custom wedding invitations, coordinating day-of stationery, and any other special announcement one desires.
What is your favorite color combination?
My favorite color combination is teal, white and gray.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
The most unique invitation I’ve designed thus far was fairytale themed. The invitation was written as a fairytale story, including the history of the couple’s courtship, as well as the major events, date, and time of their upcoming wedding. The directions, reception and response card all coordinated with the fairytale theme to match of course.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
It’s hard to single out one typeface as a favorite since I love so many. But, the few I tend to use more often than others are Aphrodite Slim, Serlio, Ademo and Avenir.
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
Haven’t received one yet, but I’m ready to be amazed.
Ampersand or the word “and”?”
Certain weddings require the proper etiquette usage of the word “and,” but, in most cases, I like to combine them both artistically.
Any advice for brides?
“Let loose and allow yourself to be pampered!” You’ll be working hard for the rest of your life, so allow yourself this one occasion, of a rare few, to be pampered like a princess.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
YES! As well as providing all your day-of wedding stationery, such as programs, favors, table numbers, name cards, menu cards and more, matching your wedding theme, I can also design lawn signs, banners, posters, or anything else you may need. I also provide “Stress-free Stationery Setup!” Within a 30-mile radius, your wedding stationery will be hand delivered to your ceremony and/or reception location, all your items will be arranged in their appropriate places and anything else you may need setup will be taken care of. This service is dependent upon Exquisitely Announce’s availability and comes with a separate fee.
