Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Brian and Emery Fitzgerald of My Big Day Designs. Check out their beautiful vintage inspired invitations:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
Launched in 2010 by Brian and Emery Fitzgerald, My Big Day Designs has grown to serve a robust customer base while maintaining our down-to-earth pricing and sincere commitment to delivering complete satisfaction and exceptional quality. Upon looking for beautiful, original customized designs for our own wedding, we found the market severely lacked affordable collections.
What is your favorite color combination?
We love helping our brides design creative wedding invitations that truly reflect the spirit of their event. Our favorite color combinations are vintage blacks and tans, as well as a color pop of dark red or coral.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
One of the most unique, and very first invitations sets we designed was requested by a close family member who was having a vintage, gothic style wedding and knew exactly what she wanted!
Do you have a favorite typeface?
Since we specialize in custom designs, and cater to specific needs, we often end up adding an array of typefaces to our stock designs, to give it a totally different look and feel from the original. A couple of our favorite typefaces are: Great Circus and American Scribe.
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
We have received requests ranging from Sea Shells on the beach, mason jar with clients’ initials etched in a heart and themes like horseshoes with a strong western style. But the most bizarre has got to be a request we received asking for us to replicate a photo of a tattoo that one of our customers had on her backside, and design a save the date post card out of it. If we can help, we will;)
Ampersand or the word “and”?
We prefer the ampersand over and, just because it lends itself to more creativity visually AND, if the word will not fit, the ampersand will.
Any advice for brides?
My best advice for Brides to be, is the start the stationary process early to avoid any unforeseen issues and review digital proofs carefully. We also hope that they shop around for the coolest designs, the best quality for the price, and head over to MyBigDayDesigns.com for an invitation process that will be a breeze.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
In addition to stationary, we offer our local California based customers our Photo Booth Service. The cool thing about our photo booth service, is that we offer a $100 discount if you buy your invitation sets through us, but more importantly, we will match your invitation set theme with your photo booth pictures/strips.
Thank you guys! For more about My Big Day Designs, check out their WeddingInviteLove profile, or head straight to their shop.
