Today’s real wedding brought to us by Style & Story Creative (Columbus, OH) is brimming with glamorous vintage details! Here’s the lovely bride to tell us more:
Our wedding was utterly breathtaking. For getting married Labor Day weekend in Ohio we were uncertain what weather we would end up with. The sky was a crisp blue with beautiful big white clouds and a nice summer breeze. We were married in a catholic cathedral style church, the church I was lucky enough to grow up in, in small town rural Delphos, Ohio . The kind of church built in the late 1800s with floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows, intricate and detailed paintings, and stunning woodwork.
See more after the cut!
After the ceremony took place we enjoyed our creative session with Style & Story Creative outside of the church. A major influence and inspiration for our wedding was my love for the 1910-1920s time periods. I wanted to incorporate subtle touches from that era while still keeping modern day elements present. I had always dreamed of a “timeless romantic and elegant” wedding with a long chapel length veil, a unique and ornate hair piece, and a vintage car ( like the scarlet Duesenberg in Titanic!) and luckily for me my husband had no reservations.
We enjoyed taking pictures in front of, next to, and inside a scarlet Duesenberg car (a huge thank you to my mother!) after the ceremony. Out creative style session then moved to a beautiful winery, via a loud and entertaining party bus ride, with a covered bridge where we enjoyed taking pictures with our large wedding party. Both Nate and I have two sisters, many friends from college, and best friends from high school so we had a pretty large wedding party, including 6 children under the age of nine.
Our reception took place at ballroom inside a hotel in Lima, Oh. We were honored to be surrounded by 280 of our closest friends and family. Our decor included large floral center pieces, natural candle light, a vintage cake stand, and gold cream and navy accents. I wanted our reception to feel like a modern day, classy, Great Gatsby party!
One of my favorite elements from the day of our wedding included walking down the aisle with my late grandfathers’ wedding rings nestled inside my bouquet. Our wedding colors were navy and celeadon with gold accents. Our reception had navy table cloths, antique gold sequenced chairs, and cream accents. The colors inspiration for the wedding was from a picture of a bouquet that I found on Pinterest that in turn became my wedding bouquet and the backdrop for all element on our wedding day!
