Tell us a bit about yourself and your company

I have been a professional photographer for 8 years, specializing in Wedding photography.  I have been married for 5 years, and have a little girl who is 21/2.

How did you get into wedding photography?

Photography was something that was always around me from an early age at home, I chose wedding photography as it’s my way of giving a gift to a couple, the images capture a treasure they will have forever.

Calculated Style Photography (5)

What is your favorite part of the wedding day to capture?

The dance floor; it’s the time of the day when the couple and their guests can really relax and be themselves.

Calculated Style Photography (12)

What is the most awkward moment you’ve experienced while on the job?

My fly wouldn’t close properly at a wedding, I had to take photos hunched over all day trying to hide it.

What’s the best thing you ever ate at a wedding?

It was at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, catered by Daniel et Daniel, the entire meal was delicious, but the short ribs were the best.

Calculated Style Photography (9)

What is your favorite venue and why?

I have been fortunate to shoot at some spectacular locations, but my favourite would be Sunnybrook Estates, because the architecture works really well for my images.

Calculated Style Photography (11)

Nikon or Canon?

Nikon

Calculated Style Photography (7)

What is your dream location to shoot a wedding?

Santorini, Greece.

Calculated Style Photography (3)

If you could shoot any celebrity wedding (past, present or future), who would be the lucky couple?

I’m happy not shooting celebrities, I would rather shoot real people where this might be the only photoshoot they will ever have.

Calculated Style Photography (4)

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding photographers just getting started?

Practice as much as you can, in all sorts of situations, lighting etc.  Concentrate on honing your craft, constantly shooting, even when you are not with clients.  Look at other people’s images that you admire and figure out why they work, and then try to recreate that in your own work not by imitating, but by making it your own.
