Today’s stationer interview is with Tori of Paperkeet, a St. Louis-based stationery studio! Make sure you check out her weirdest request below, it’s *hilarious*.

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

I was in school for graphic design and, like everyone else, was going through that stage in life where ALL of my friends started getting hitched. One of closest friends, who married her high school sweetheart, let me take on her invitations as her gift, and I’ve been hooked ever since!

See the rest of the interview and her beautiful designs after the cut!

What is your favorite color combination?

Oh my, this is a toughie. How do you choose? Really it depends on the bride, and the wedding. If I were planning my own wedding right now at this very moment though…I would probably choose a spearmint green as my main color. I’d most likely pair that with a charcoal grey, and throw in some accents of a peachy color.

What is the most unique invitation you have designed?

I love making parts of the invitations from scratch! What’s more unique than that? I used doilies to make a ‘gatefold’ of sorts recently that I just loved.

Do you have a favorite typeface?

Ok, I draw the line on favorites here. You just can’t do it – I love so many! Each one has a personality, and they have to be chosen depending on the bride, groom and wedding itself. They “speak” for the invitation.

What is the most bizarre request you have received?

Butterflies and Superman. In the same invitation.

Ampersand or the word “and?”

Most of the time, written out. Sometimes there’s a perfect invitation just begging for the ampersand though.

Any advice for brides?

Relax, and throw the rules out the window. Who’s keeping score of what you’re “supposed” to be doing – what does that even mean?! Have fun with it, really make it YOUR day.

Do you offer more than just stationery?

Paperkeet does everything paper from save the dates to printed napkins at the reception, but our creativity doesn’t end there. Need help making favors? Come on over – let’s talk! Need a gift – we’ve got tons of awesome handmade wares from local artists!
