This fresh, modern wedding inspiration shoot comes to us from Modern Whimsy Events, based in Austin, TX. Here’s photographer Kiera Jane of France Photographers to tell us more:

When I first saw Prospect House I was in love! It is such a unique space in the Hill Country of Texas and I knew right away that I needed to shoot there. But with such a unique space, I needed a unique theme. I wanted something different. So I started brainstorming with Prospect House in mind! I have loved books ever since I was kid so I knew I would love to do something along those lines.

See more after the cut!

I didn’t want to do an extremely current or popular book because chances are there has already been a styled shoot done. I began thinking of books I read as a little girl and my mind immediately went to The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and I knew right away that it would perfect. The Giving Tree is a book about selfless love and it seemed so fitting for a wedding theme.

What better note to start your wedding day off with than one that gives such a great example of how to love your partner. With Silverstein’s book in mind I started brainstorming ideas. I had two things that I really wanted. One: I wanted to recreate the tree on the cover of the book at the ceremony site at Prospect House for the couple to stand under. And secondly: I wanted Mandy of Modern Whimsy Events to partner with me for this shoot and style it, because I certainly had no idea what I was doing and I knew she could take this idea and run with it!

Mandy was the perfect choice! She took the theme and turned it into more than I could ever imagine! She brought it to life in such a classy way. If I was in charge it would’ve been so kitschy and overdone. I knew that Mandy would be able to reign me in and create something beautiful and she far exceeded my expectations! From the very first conversation we had about the shoot, she listened so intently to what I wanted and with that in mind styled our Giving Tree shoot to what you see here. I could not have done it without her!

Together, Mandy and I talked about which vendors we wanted to work with. And I truly mean it when I say that every single one of them is so amazing! The level of work they bring to the table is incredible and I am so inspired to work in an industry with such talented and caring people. Lip Service XO creates custom lipstick colors and they created one just for us for this shoot and it was too beautiful! We could not get over the gorgeous red. It was the perfect pop of color!

Seda Medicina dyes silks by hand and produces the most beautiful effect. I loved them wrapped around the gorgeous bouquet created by Color Theory Collective. Everything Color Theory Collective created was phenomenal! Alyssa is truly an artist. The tree at the ceremony site was so important to me and Alyssa executed it perfectly! I really cannot say enough about all of the vendors! Everything came together so perfectly and I am so thankful to them for creating this!

Lovely work, thank you, ladies! For more information about Modern Whimsy Events, please visit their WeddingLovely Vendor Guide profile or head straight to their website.
