Today’s wedding vendor interview is with Camille Abbott Marriage Celebrant, based in Adelaide, Australia! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
I am based in Adelaide and conduct relaxed, relevant and fun civil wedding ceremonies all over South Australia and interstate. Personalising each and every ceremony is very important to me and my couples and I think that’s what makes each wedding unique.

How did you get into wedding officiating?
I became a registered marriage celebrant in 2008 after my first commitment ceremony for my brother and now sister-in-law went off really well. I received a lot of compliments and my favourite uncle told me that I had found what I’m great at.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
I love travelling to places that I wouldn’t normally visit – Australia is such a beautiful country. But I would have to say that my couples are especially awesome. Many of them are now good friends of mine.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding officiants just getting started?
Trust your voice – everyone has a different way of telling a story. Know that your way is your trademark and that you will find couples that respond to it.
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I love spending my downtime with my family, going to the beach, seeing a movie, or just having a laugh and a chat over a wine or two.
Any great stories from a wedding you’ve officiated?
There are soooo many stories! I’m bound by my requirement as a Commonwealth Registered Marriage Celebrant to not kiss and tell. But there was this ONE time.. :D
What advice would you pass along to couples planning their wedding?
Yes! And you can check them out on my blog: What To Look For In A (GREAT) Celebrant/Officiant, 4 Different Ways To Pick Your Wedding Colours, Weddings With A Social Conscience; Why It’s Cool (and easy) To Give Back
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I would like to see couples not focus on ‘trends’ as such. If there is ever a time to explore and celebrate what makes you YOU, it’s on your wedding day. If you want to include an interpretive tap dance of your love, I say, GO FOR IT! Is it trendy? Who cares?
