Tell us a bit about yourself and your company
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company I am a hybrid (film + digital) fine art photographer, expertly blending photojournalism and traditional portraiture to create timeless images for my clients. After 20 years and 400+ weddings I still love what I do.

How did you get into wedding photography?
I was asked to second shoot for another studio. I photographed my very first wedding at the Sears (oops, I mean Willis) Tower and the family portraits at the Ritz Carlton. I honestly thought I would die from anxiety because #1 this was FILM, and #2 I had no idea what I was doing, and finally #3 I was photographing someone’s wedding, so no do-overs.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day to capture?
My favorite part is the first look, that’s when the bride and groom see each other for the very first time. I also love the getting ready portraits and capturing all the details. Finally, I love the first dances. The emotions are the best when the bride dances with her dad and then her husband.
What is the most awkward moment you’ve experienced while on the job?
Getting hit on by guests, and or being told to have a drink. (I never drink while I am working)
What is your favorite venue and why?
I love the Palmer House because the staff is really, really amazing to me. My next favorite would have to be the Langham Hotel. The staff really are remarkable and go out of their way to create an amazing experience for everyone.
Nikon or Canon?
Nikon – Always Nikon and Pentax for film
What is your dream location to shoot a wedding?
Napa or anywhere on the Amalfi Coast.
If you could shoot any celebrity wedding (past, present or future), who would be the lucky couple?
Kate Moss & Jamie Hince.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding photographers just getting started?
Try to be at the rehearsal. It’s saved me thousands of dollars and countless hours of headaches to be there and work out any issues that may arise.
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are looking to hire a photographer to cover their big day?
Make sure you do your homework, because all photographers are not the same. I once hired a big name photographer for my own wedding and sadly there were no good portraits. Those are pretty important to me. So although I like fun and goofy I should have communicated better with the photographer as to what I was really looking for.
