Today’s wedding photographer interview is with Jennifer Moreau of Belle Moreau Photo, based in Cleveland, Ohio! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
I am 27 years old and married to my best friend. I started Belle Moreau Photo in December of 2013 and have been loving it! I specialize in Wedding & Engagement photography primarily in Cleveland, Ohio, but I also travel for weddings throughout the States!

I’ve always loved being behind the camera. My parents have tapes upon tapes of home videos that usually involved me begging to be the one to take pictures or videos. I decided to specialize in weddings because I love capturing all of the moments and emotions of someone’s big day. Especially when they’re not looking. It’s such an honor to be a part of one of the most important days of someone’s life. Being a wedding photographer has its challenges, but it’s so exciting and always moving, which I love.
I love them all! But if I have to pick, I’d say the “getting ready” moments. That’s when I love to capture the candid nervousness and excitement of the bride and groom with their family and bridal party. The details of the dress, accessories, and items that many may miss, but are important to the couple. Most of my couples appreciate those little details that set the tone for their wedding.
Thankfully I haven’t had many awkward moments so far.. the limo rides with the bridal party usually get a little interesting though!
The Club at Hillbrook in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. While I haven’t personally shot a wedding there, it’s where my best friend had her reception. It’s a mansion turned club/reception venue. It has gardens and gorgeous architecture. It is steeping with history and vintage charm. It’s just an all around romantic place!
Somewhere by the mountains! I love snow and I think the Rocky Mountains are just absolutely breathtaking.
I would have to say George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin. They are such a gorgeous couple with an amazing amount of class. You could see how excited and in love they were. Everything about their multi-day wedding celebration was dripping with elegance. And how can you beat Venice, Italy?
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding photographers just getting started?
Find what you love to do and stick to it. Whether it’s photographing families, babies, weddings.. there’s so many options. It took me most of my first year to figure out that what I love the most is weddings and engagements. Once you figure that out, focus on it and go for it! Make your own little niche and never underestimate yourself. After all, no one takes photos like you do!
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are looking to hire a photographer to cover their big day?
Take the time to meet! You need to have that connection with your photographer, and they need to know exactly what you’re looking for. That one-on-one time really helps you see if they listen and understand what you need in a photographer. And make sure you get an engagement session! This is one of the best ways you can get more comfortable in front of the camera and with your photographer. It’ll help you prepare for your big day. Plus you can use your photos for fun things at your wedding!
