Today’s wedding planner interview is with Lauren Flores of In Focus Events, based in Corona, California! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
In Focus Events was started about 5 years ago out of a major passion for serving others and coordinating events. Our couples are our greatest motivation, we aim to please, serve, and go above and beyond. We want them to feel nothing more then a guest at their own event, taken care of, stress free. You inspire us; your love story, family history, past, present, future, hopes, passions. We are excited to make all of those come alive.

How did you get into wedding planning?
I started off by helping coordinate weddings for my friends who were young couples. I just so happened to be going to school for Hospitality and Restaurant Management, so when I started planning weddings I fell in love and I knew that it was what I wanted to focus on.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
The relationships that we make with our couples is by far the greatest gift. We are involved in such an intimate part of their lives and they are trusting us with so much. So naturally we create a pretty special bond and we have just been so lucky to have met and got to know some incredible people.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
One thing that has always stuck out to me is making sure that your communication is on point. If a bride emails, texts or calls you about something, get back to them as soon as you can. Its their wedding and most likely a pretty big deal for them, so its important that you respect their time and make them feel super supported with all things that come up.

What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
As long as I can remember I have been in love with all things bohemian, I can spend hours walking around World Market or rummaging thorough thrift stores. I’m also a bit of a nerd, I spent 6 years as a computer tech while I was growing my business.
What is your current favorite color combination?
Lately I have been really into plum, maroon, burnt orange and gold accents.
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
My absolute favorite wedding trend are the vintage lace wedding dresses.
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?
Make sure that you take out time of your planning to spend time with each other and find a way to relax; you are planning the rest of your lives together and it really is such a sweet time, so make sure you enjoy it!
