Today’s wedding planner interview is with Alexandra of Gold-Weddings Santorini, based in Fira, Greece! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
I’m Alexandra Kritikou-Chalmpe, a registered wedding consultant in Santorini, married, mother of 2 wonderful sons. After finishing my studies in the University of Athens and having many years of experience in Public Relations and Marketing, I have organized plenty of weddings and events (parties, proposals, anniversaries, christenings), with great success, due to hard work, experience and professionalism. Our business is family-owned with many years of experience (EST.1987). We are licensed by the Greek Ministry of Tourism & The Greek National Tourist Organization.
See more after the cut!
How did you get into wedding planning?
Since my mother-in-law retired, I took her place (that of the Executive Wedding Consultant), fulfilling our brides’ dreams to the most important day of their life!
What’s your favorite part of the job?
The happiness in our clients’ eyes while thanking us, the hugs and their sweet words.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
They should have patience to hear their clients’ will and do their best in order to achieve it. Not to sell fixed packages as every wedding is unique and every bride has dreamed her wedding differently.
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
Love spending my free time with my sons (taking them to the beach, long walks, playground etc.)
Any great stories from working with a client?
There was a bride that was very stressed and needed a drink in order to relax ,and then another one, and then another one so finally she needed to be held by two during the ceremony!
What is your current favorite color combination?
Green-white or blue-white
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I love the vintage style hairstyles!
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?
They should just relax and enjoy it. Your wedding day happens just once (hopefully) so the shouldn’t leave their stress to ruin everything. In that, a very experienced wedding planner may help. Prefer local planners as they know the area better than anyone else and offer so much more options on suppliers, venues etc.
