Today’s wedding planner interview is with Natalie McBride, the owner of Swoon-Worthy Events, based in Jacksonville, FL. Enjoy!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
I’ve been married for 3 years and a mom for near one year. After planning my own wedding, planning my daughter’s 1st birthday party has been the most fun. It’s been a dream-fulfilled to open my own consulting, planning, designing and coordinating wedding and special events company, which I have lovingly named: “Swoon-Worthy Events”.

How did you get into wedding planning?
I loved planning meaningful events for my sorority and Greek Life community in college, so when it came time to choose a career, I set out to plan weddings and events full time.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
I love the opportunity to be creative with each couple.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
Having a mentor is critical to your ongoing success. If you don’t have one – find one!
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I love to read and when I have the opportunity to travel, too.
Any great stories from working with a client?
The list-topper for me was when the power went out during a wedding reception due to inclement weather. That meant the live band and air conditioning was down… if you ever want to talk about ways to keep the merriment going…
What is your current favorite color combination?
Navy, Yellow, White and Gray!
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I am loving the tassels trend – they can be elegant, glamorous or rustic!
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?
Amidst all the frills, think logistically smart — will your thoughtful choices make it easy and enjoyable for your guests? Sometimes the most well-intentioned detail can actually be a logistical nightmare and frustrating for your guests.
