Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

Hey guys! My name is Emily Reno and I am the owner/ lead planner of Weddings & Events by Emily.  We are based out of Las Vegas, NV and specialize in full service planning. There is very little that brings me more joy than getting to see the weddings I am a part of come to life.  Wedding planning encompasses everything I could have ever dreamed to have in a career.

How did you get into the business?

After college in California I decided to take a leap of faith, leave my degree in public relations and marketing behind and move to Miami, Florida to explore a career in wedding planning.  It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the business and realize this is what I was born to do.  Moving to Las Vegas to start my business was the best decision I ever made, I met my (now) husband and have a wonderful career where I get to see love born every weekend.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

My greatest fulfillment comes from seeing the events I design and produce come to life as well as when the couples I work with turn into personal friends.

If you could pick one unique product or service offering, which would be your favorite, and why?

We specialize in full service planning and our couples love working with us because they know they can trust us with the biggest day of they life. We understand that weddings are serious but we also don’t take ourselves too seriously.  We believe that the wedding planning process should be a fun and enjoyable experience.   The process really does fly by quickly so I try to ensure that my clients are able to take it all in and make things exciting and stress free.

hat’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to others just getting started in your field?

The best advice I can give anyone just starting off in the industry is to hire a business coach and educate yourself on the profession as much as possible.   Investing in a good website and working on your branding from the very beginning can be very beneficial.

What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?

I am a travel junkie! I love to see new places and rarely go to the same place twice. I am also a foodie at heart, my love for food greatly surpasses my love for the gym. I constantly find myself “working off” the Mexican food (my favorite) and wedding cake from the night before. I am a HUGE country music fan and love going to country concerts.

Any great stories from working with a client?

Hmm, there are so many great stories to share!  One of my most recent favorites was from working with a bride from the East Coast who entrusted me in designing /planning her entire wedding from across the country. This bride had never been to Las Vegas to see the venue prior to the day before the wedding.  This particular bride was a very visual person so this proved to be challenging since she never came out for a mockup or a venue tour. On the day of the wedding she couldn’t stop telling us how beautiful everything was and how the wedding exceeded her and her husband’s expectations.

What makes you different from others in your field?

I think what makes me different is that I really try to connect with my clients on a personal level.  It is never about a sale to me when trying to book clients.  I really work hard to create lasting relationships with the couples I work with.

Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?

Burlap. Anything burlap has got to go. There are so many great ways to have a rustic wedding without incorporating that itchy brown stuff.

What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning their big day?

The best advice I can give to couples planning their wedding day is whenever you are feeling overwhelmed, take a step back and try to enjoy the process as much as possible. Prioritize your to do’s and don’t worry about getting everything done at one time. Oh, and hire a wedding planner!
