How did you get into wedding planning?
My journey to wedding planning started long before my company started. I remember researching how to break into the business years before actually taking the plunge. I always wanted to be a business owner and was just waiting to find my niche. Then I got engaged, spent a year planning my own Alice in Wonderland themed wedding and helped friends plan their own weddings as well. That’s when I took the plunge!
What’s your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of wedding planning is helping couples begin their forever.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
The biggest lesson I have learned is that wedding planning is very, very, hard work and is not for the faint at heart. You must have a thick skin, and a lot of caffeine ;)
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
When I am not wedding planning, you can find me either with my own dogs and family or volunteering with dog rescue. I call myself a wedding planner by day, and dog rescuer by night!
Any great stories from working with a client?
Oh the stories! You might not believe some of the crazy thing’s I have seen and heard! The greatest story I have was when my team and I were working a 17 hour wedding day on an Island that was on a lake in WI. The day/night ended with a groomsmen seeking out myself and my team for “hugs” after he had jumped (fully clothed) into the lake. It was hot out so we didn’t mind the little cool down!
What is your current favorite color combination?
My current favorite combination is anything with hints of gold!
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I am loving the amount of greenery that florists are using these day’s! I am hoping the use of chalkboard signs is coming to an end soon.
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?
Plan as much as early as you possibly can. Not only will it save you money but it will save you stress and allow you to enjoy all of the fun activities that take place prior to but close to the wedding day!
