Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

Events Plus Style is San Diego’s Premier Wedding & Event Planning Concierge. We create unforgettable weddings and events infused with unique personal details that make your guests say “WOW.”  Our stress-free event planning and coordination services allow you to enjoy your event as much as your guests do! I have 10 years experience in the industry and is passionate about helping people celebrate life and enter into the covenant of marriage. I am very personable and love getting to know my couples and help them plan the wedding that is exactly what they had envisioned and more!

How did you get into wedding planning?

I originally went to school for Apparel Merchandising and my career started in the Fashion Industry in downtown Los Angeles. My  love of weddings and celebrations quickly brought me into the world of event planning. I discovered my true passion by assisting many sought after planners on the weekends and completing an internship with a celebrity event planner. Following the love of my life and now husband, I moved to Napa, California where I held the position as the Catering Sales Manager at a prestigious golf club. I started Events Plus Style shortly after moving to sunny San Diego, a place I will now always call home. Using my experience in the industry and my creative talents, I love helping Brides and Grooms plan an event that is a reflection of their personalities. I also love putting together a detailed timeline and managing it on the wedding day…while they enjoy every second!

What’s your favorite part of the job?

I love both the creative and management side of wedding and event planning. The best part is seeing the couple enjoy the wedding of their dreams. A lot of times, they don’t realize all the little things that need to be done throughout the wedding, from set-up to coordinating dances to collecting leftover favors and bringing gifts to a secure location. It’s the little things that we can help out with that make a big difference and allow them to enjoy a perfect day.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?

I gained an incredible amount of experience working on the venue side of things. We did all the catering and I learned the “back of the house” details and have a better understanding of all the moving parts. It allows me to manage a timeline, communicating effectively between the venue and vendors to ensure a smooth flow, making the appropriate changes to make everyone happy.

What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?

My other passion is health and fitness. I love running! I have run 2 marathons and about a dozen half marathons. My husband and I are involved with our church and I so thankful that God has blessed me with such a fun and rewarding job.

Any great stories from working with a client?

I have a lot of great stories! I think my favorites involve surprises. I had a Bride surprise her Groom with his favorite song, as she walked down the aisle. Another wedding had a brass band come late into the evening and play while walking down the driveway into the reception to surprise all the guests. Most recently, I helped a Client plan a Birthday Party for his Mom; surprising her by flying in some old friends and renting a La Jolla Vacation Home.

What is your current favorite color combination?

I’ve been liking bold, but elegant colors recently. I recently did an aqua, corral and white wedding that was beautiful.

Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?

I’ve been loving see a little more glamour and sophistication versus the rustic trend. Don’t get me wrong, I still love mason jars but it is good to see some more romantic elements coming in.

What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?

Have fun with it! And {of course} hire a Planner or Day of Coordinator so you can enjoy the day!
