How did you get into wedding planning?

Jessica got her start in hospitality, working at some of the premiere wedding venues in the Bay Area as the Wedding Manager. She knows the venue side like the back of her hand, which is extra handy in negotiations and has a little “blue” book with the best vendor contacts for every budget!

Lisa started in non-profit events, hosting huge galas, so she is an expert at managing a budget and knows where to invest and where to save. She has also owned one of the best bridal boutiques in the bay area for the last 10 years, so she’s great at spotting trends and knows how to bring style to your event.

Six years ago when Jessica and Lisa first worked together, it was love at first wedding, and a partnership was made!

What’s your favorite part of the job?

The first look! For us, the best moment of that day is when the couple sees each other for the first time, whether during a first look with the photographers, or as she walks down the aisle. It is absolute magic, the reason for all of the planning, and yes we still cry!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?

Be a team player! All your vendors need to work together in order to create a better vision, from the beginning through the wedding day. If “that’s not my part of my job” is in your vocabulary, than this isn’t the right industry for you. Our biggest strength, as well as the compliment that we hear over and over, is that we will jump in wherever needed and do everything it takes to make everything run smooth.

What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?

Jessica: Crafts! But I guess that is a bit work related isn’t it? And throwing parties…but again, not much of a stretch! I really love entertaining with my husband in our backyard, expect to find us grilling pizza, playing corn hole, and drinking homemade sangria on any given Saturday. Second to those things, working in the garden – I am seriously passionate about tomatoes.

Lisa: My family & friends! I have two little kids that keep me busy, are always up for an adventure and love to explore new places, so we are always on the go! Also, like Jessica, I love to entertain! One of my favorite places in the world is my own backyard hanging out with friends around the fire pit, usually with a themed cocktail!

Any great stories from working with a client?

We have more amazing stories than we can count – lucky us! Every relationship sticks with you in a different way and it is difficult to choose just one. One of our most meaningful was a couple where the groom had been diagnosed with cancer during the beginning of the planning process. It was an emotional year of ups and downs. By the day of the wedding, the groom had finished chemo and his prognosis had improved greatly. The brides joy that day was unlike anything you’ve ever seen and everyone was there to celebrate them. It was true, unbridled happiness and love, and we were honored to be a part of it.

What is your current favorite color combination?

We are really into bronze! For a wedding this fall, we are pairing that fun metallic with a soft peach to bring a softer side to the fall spectrum and we can’t wait to see it all come together!

Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?

We are having a love affair with watercolor details paired with beautiful calligraphy. Luckily one of our Associate Planners is incredibly talented at freestyling chalkboard and watercolor signs so we can bring her into collaborations and really create a unique look for a couple’s signage!

What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?

Hire a wedding planner! Yes, we are biased, but if you don’t want to be the one that all your vendors are coming to with questions on your wedding day, hire an expert to pull it all together – even if your budget only allows for you to have someone come in towards the end. It will be impossible to enjoy yourself if you are obsessing over the details, so let us do it for you!
