Today’s interview is with Australian wedding planner Stephanie Cassimatis. Stephanie is the founder and senior planner & stylist of Pink Caviar Events! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
My name is Stephanie and I am the owner of Pink Caviar Events. We are Sydney based Wedding Planners and Stylists helping our brides with the organization, planning, styling and coordinating of their special day. My team and I love the wedding and event industry and also operate our own photo booth and candy buffets, providing a complete event management service to our clients.

How did you get into wedding planning?
I love weddings. I love the hype and the buzz, everyone getting dressed up and enjoying such a wonderful day. I have always wanted to be involved in these special events and after working in the industry for a long time, I thought it would be ideal to have my own business and thus Pink Caviar started.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
Getting to know our clients, I love hearing about how they met and their vision for their special day. I also thoroughly enjoy the setup and running of the day itself. You met a lot of interesting and unique people doing what we do and I always love that no two days are the same and I am not stuck behind a desk for 8 hours a day ;-)
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
Patience and restraint. Remember it’s not your wedding day and although you may do things differently, if your client wants something specific, be sure to deliver to their desires.
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I enjoy spending time away with my husband. We actually work together and always super busy over weekends that we thoroughly enjoy be able to get away for a weekend to enjoy good food, good wine and company.
Any great stories from working with a client?
We had a client who got engaged and left wedding planner out to about 5 months before her wedding date. She did not realize how much she had to complete in a short amount of time but as she worked 6 days a week and led an active social life, she was freaking out! I met with her at our office and we chatted about what she wanted over a glass of wine and many magazines and Pinterest boards. We had a full quote to her within a few days and once approved our team set the wheels in motion. We planned a complete wedding to her taste and budget within the short time frame we had and she was thrilled with the result! I delivered breakfast to her on the day as she was getting her hair done and she was so happy that she got what she wanted for the price she was after. She said she felt relaxed and was looking forward to marrying her best friend. Our team was present for the whole day and made sure all elements ran smoothly.
What is your current favorite color combination?
There are so many different combinations you can do, but I do like the look of an elegant combo like Sage + Gold + Ivory.
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I like seeing a couple create and share a signature cocktail with their family and friends on their wedding day. There is also a growing trend in Australia with food stations and gourmet canapes that we just love to see the interactions with guests and how they also enjoy the variety and something different.
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?
Be sure to make a wish list at the beginning of the planning process and write down EVERYTHING you have ever wanted. Then go through and get all the prices for your list and be sure to work out a figure that you and your future husband are happy to spend.
Once you have your spend limit, you can play with your wish list and see what you include, cut out or compromise on. There are a lot of brides out there who think a wedding planner is over the top, but remember we do this every day. We know how much things cost and who is good for what you are after. We can actually help you save money in the process and you will not have all your weekends and free time eaten up with planning, visiting, negotiating.
