Today’s interview is with Italian wedding planner agency Sogni Confettati, based in Arona, Lake Maggiore, Italy! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
Born in Milan, I definitely moved to lake Maggiore some years ago, because there I found my love. After my Bachelor’s Degree in Politics Science at Cattolica University of Milan, I started to think about my future and I was fascinated by wedding industry and so I decided to follow different courses for wedding planners and floral designers. Yes, also courses for floral designer, because I love so much flowers and all the décor and arrangements that I can create, thanks also to my boyfriend that passed on his passion for flowers and plants. Meanwhile, 4 months before my post graduate Master’s Degree in Politics Science, I opened my business, not only a wedding planning agency and floral design, but also a concept store where buy different products for weddings and events; my goal was give the possibility to couples that are getting married to have in the same place all the things that they need for their special day and give also a precise advices and consulting.

How did you get into wedding planning?
I think that many things are involved. First of all, I have been always creative, I love to match colors, create decoration myself. Next, meeting my boyfriend was important in my decision, because I moved to living in Arona, lake Maggiore, a beautiful and romantic setting for weddings (I love this area from when I was a child). And also thanks to my boyfriend and his love for flowers, I’ve started to learn more and more about flowers and floral arrangements. Also important were the training and the courses that followed. Finally, when after the first wedding that I planned, the bride send me a message where it was written that she thanked me very much and that my work had exceeded her expectations, this message was confirmation for me to continue my work with passion and professionalism.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
It’s difficult to choose the favorite part of my job, because I love all my job, but if I have to choose, I think that my favorite part is the creative one, when I have to create complete wedding project with wedding design ideas and concept planning for ceremony and reception, but also the wedding day, when all is done and all is perfect and I can see the joy of bride and groom and the surprise of guests.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?
Time is never enough, so all you can do before the wedding day you have to do before and also you have to consider that for a wedding planner the wedding day starts a day before!
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
My hobbies are running, swimming, cooking and visiting cities. Also in my free time I search news and trends for weddings and flowers, because my job is my passion.
Any great stories from working with a client?
Every client has a great story. Now I’ll tell you about an Italian-Argentine wedding. The plan process began with two completly different color’s choice made by bride and groom. The bride fall in love with a red and white theme wedding. Groom would like the red color, but I want also to put something colored in light blue. But mix these two colors isn’t a good choice. So I tried to understand why the groom wanted also light blue color. He answered me that light blue is the color of the Argentine flag and he wanted to remember his country on the wedding day. So he wanted to remember his country and the light blue was the first idea that he had got. I proposed another solution: a show of Argentine tango to open the ballroom and some typical Argentine dishes in the menu. Thanks to my chef, the Argentine dishes conquered the groom. Also the bride was very enthusiastic of the Argentine tango. So their wedding was all colored in red and white.
What is your current favorite color combination?
I don’t have a favorite color combination, I love try any colors, because I have seen that it isn’t the color to make the difference, but how it is used and matched with other colors and materials.
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I love create wedding where everything speaks about bride and groom. My advice is follow yourself, not a trend, but without forget elegance. You can follow any trend if that trend is suit to you.
