Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Deepika Nagarmath, founder and design director of dn8 design! Enjoy:

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

Coming from the world of Advertising where campaigns and designing for corporates was something I was mainly into, being a wedding invitation designer was never in my radar. It just happened!  A friend of mine was getting married and I was roped in by her to design her invite. I was a little apprehensive at first as it was my very first attempt in designing a brides dream invite. But as I started it seemed so much fun and my creative juices would flow easily without worrying about parameters and I found myself enjoying it thoroughly. This set the ball rolling and soon I was setting the tone for the most important day of a brides and grooms life.

What is your favorite color combination?

Ahh!! now that’s a tough question! I would say Ivory and Gold. It’s timeless and one of the most elegant looking combination.

What is the most unique invitation you have designed?

We customize all invites from scratch by bringing fresh thinking to every thought pieces we craft, making each one special and one-of-a-kind reflecting our clients personality. That’s our USP.

Do you have a favorite typeface?

This answer is ever changing! But I usually mix 2-3 typefaces as it breaks the monotony and also makes the invite look interesting.

What is the most bizarre request you have received?

I wouldn’t consider any request as bizarre as all the request from my clients are their dream invite for their big day and it’s my job to articulate the same to the best of my ability.

Ampersand or the word “and?”

Both. I think both “&” / “and” have a character of it’s own and they can be used artistically in the layout doing justice to the design.

Any advice for brides?

To create each invitation design uniquely has always been a challenge! It sets the tone of your wedding and the experience your guest can expect. So make sure to start early if you are looking for custom invitations. Doing some groundwork in terms of the style and what type of feel you want your invitation to set can get a designers creative juices flowing. Lastly I’m here to work with you to create your dream invite on one of the most special days in your lives!

Do you offer more than just stationery?

Yes, besides wedding stationery, we offer baby announcements, baby and bridal shower invitations, wedding favors, gift bags, save the dates, thank you cards, bachelorette invites and anything you have envisioned. We brand your wedding and craft special occasions.
In the corporate section we develop and build brands. We design and executive logos, brochures, websites, catalogues, packaging, marketing collaterals and much more.
