Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Engaging Papers, based in NYC! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
Founded in 2015 by a former marketing executive, Patty Gibbons created Engaging Paper, a sister company of Black Dress Paperie. Little Black Dress Paperie has been serving the NYC metropolitan area for over 13 years. We recognized the world was going mobile and decided to take our creative designs and approach and offer them online with a boutique service.

What is your favorite color combination?
We love blushes, gold & cream as a go to. Grey is the new black. It’s so versatile and goes with everything. For brides looking to include a little pop of color we also love to add mints, aquamarine or french blue.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
One of our most unique designs incorporated not only different printing techniques but also different materials such as a leatherette bellyband, lace, swarovski crystals, satin, porcelain flowers & tulle that makes it a couture design. The printing method includes an embossed monogram and our signature luxepress printing.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
Our favorite typeface is bourgues. It’s a very formal script and we love that you can extent embellishments on specific characters to make it even more formal.
What is the most bizarre request you have received?
One of our recent requests included the combining of a hip hop sneaker logo onto a formal wedding invitation while keeping it sophisticated and feminine at the same time. It was definitely a design challenge but it turned into one of our favorite designs.
Ampersand or the word “and?”
We like the Ampersand because you can have a lot of fun with it and it gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to the design.
Any advice for brides?
Start planning early and have an idea of what you like and think of a budget. It’s good to know what your style is to help finding the right invitations.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
We do can anything a client asks us to do. From escort boards to decor, event planning or wedding favors.
