Today’s wedding planner interview is with Khloe Jackson, Founder of Wildflower Wedding Planning based in Chattanooga, TN! Enjoy:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

I consider myself lucky to have found my passion for wedding planning right after graduating from college! There is just something so special about the energy of wedding day that completely captivated me from the moment I entered the event industry. I spent a few years working as a Venue Director for a busy wedding venue in the area gaining exposure to a large spectrum of different weddings! I’ve seen big weddings, intimate weddings, cultural weddings, bohemian weddings, extravagant weddings, minimalist weddings, you name it! You could always find me trying to get more and more involved in the process by assisting vendors and talking details with the brides-to-be. In January 2017, I fulfilled my passion to pursue my own venture, Wildflower Wedding Planning, in order to help clients across Chattanooga save time and money planning their perfect weddings. Recently, I have found that I connect with trendy brides that value the sense of atmosphere their big day exudes. We specialize it interlacing the theme of the wedding into the personality of the couple by creating a unique and fun energy where lifelong memories can be made!

What’s your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of my job is being a part of one of the biggest day of the clients’ lives. I get to meet their families and closest friends. Filled with special moments, the energy on the wedding day is unmatched by anything I’ve ever experienced. Each one is uniquely exciting, emotional, and perfect!

Recently, the most rewarding part of my job is working with other people just like me that are passionate about wedding planning! I am thrilled to be able to teach others the ins and outs of the whole process to those who are also passionate about weddings with my Wedding Planning training program.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?

One of the biggest mistakes I made, in the beginning, was trying to do everything myself! It was shortly after I got started that I realized I could not be six people at once!! No matter how simple the job seems, find someone you can trust to help you with the legwork on day-of. Things you don’t plan for will come up, and it’s essential to have back up when things get sticky.

Also – network, network, network! Meet up with vendors as often as you can and get to know what resources you have access to in your community! We are the connectors of the event world! Eventually, you will find your select group that you like working with because you have similar working styles and opinions on best practices. Until then, say yes to everyone who will agree to grab a cup of coffee with you! (:

What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?

When I’m not planning weddings, you can find me planning my next traveling adventure, on my way to hot yoga, or playing with Panda at the dog park!

Any great stories from working with a client?

I love watching all the hard work involved in planning come together on the wedding day! I become so close to my clients throughout the planning process. One of my favorite memories is working with a particular bride that drug me out on the dance floor for a little fun on the wedding day! Helping her plan the wedding of her dreams, we established a unique friendship that continues to this day!

What is your current favorite color combination?

Oh gosh! It’s hard to choose just one! Working in unique venues inspire a variety of different visions, but generally, I love incorporating pastels in the Spring. I work with a lot of White, Greenery, and Gold in the Summer. Burgundy, Sage, Champagne are my favorite in the Fall. Finally, I love black & silver color combinations in the Winter.

Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?

I love working with new trends, but naturalistic, chic, and vintage themes probably get me the most excited! I am so in love with the semicircular ceremony trend. Being in the center of all the people you love gives off such a powerful statement while saying your vows.

What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?

One of the things I always tell the couples I work with that are on a planning budget is to focus on what’s important to you in the planning process! What part of wedding day takes over your thoughts? Is it a band keeping the dance floor busy, is it the variety of eclectic food variety, is it the dazzling centerpieces?!

There are hundreds of little details you could talk through and bog yourself down with. If you really want to blow your guests away, focus on a few aspects that you really matter to you as a couple and make those things absolutely AWESOME!
