Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Amy Zhang, Designer and Owner of Amy Zhang Creative, based in Denver, CO! Enjoy:

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

I’ve always been obsessed with paper goods, but it wasn’t until a couple years ago that I started on wedding invitations. I started doing some graphic design work for a small stationery company and immediately fell in love with the work and the process of helping couples celebrate their love.

What is your favorite color combination?

I’m a big fan of neutrals, especially when paired with a soft, organic green!

What is the most unique invitation you have designed?

I just finished a celestial-themed invitation suite where each piece was shaped like a different moon phase — so fun!

Do you have a favorite typeface?

I like to use hand-lettering and calligraphy script as often as I can, but in terms of actual typefaces, I love Lora (it’s what I use for my own brand!)

What is the most bizarre request you have received?

I once worked with a post-apocalyptic / Cold War inspired theme — definitely unusual, but it turned out beautifully!

Ampersand or the word “and?”

Ampersands, definitely.

Any advice for brides?

When you’re looking to hire a stationer, go through their website and social media to make sure their style is a good fit for you! And in terms of budget, don’t forget the cost of postage — it adds up, and you don’t want it to sneak up on you.

Do you offer more than just stationery?

Yes! I like to think of myself as a one-stop shop for stationery and signage — I offer everything from stationery suites, to calligraphy, to large-scale hand-lettered signs.
