Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Sonal Aggarwal Jolly of Turmeric Ink, based in New Delhi, India! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
The design and print industry is an ever evolving field and there was so much to learn everyday. The existing traditional framework left little scope for exquisite, innovative, revolutionary and ambitious approach to design, management and process. This prompted me to create Turmeric Ink, a design consultancy with a global outlook to design and a high end quality print shop in 2011.

What is your favorite color combination?
For us design and colors go hand in hand essentially as they reflect the client’s personality. So to say whether I prefer Pastels or deep shades is very difficult but for me personally it is the classic combination of white & gold.
The most unique would be the invite on an Art Deco theme for an Indian wedding. So it had to be all structural and deep in shades, yet somehow we had to add a little delicacy to the invite. The design of course came out superb but it was also the craftsmanship that gave the end product a whole new look.
Do you have a favorite typeface?
Fonts play a big role in the look and feel of an invite and changes for every other. While our personal favorite is the Arrus BT family typeface.
To make a caricature invite for a Sikh groom and a Norwegian bride. They didn’t want it to be the animated kinds, so we worked around something more interesting and it came out a stunner.
Ampersand or the word “and?”
Both actually, it is a lot based on the design. In a more formal setting we prefer using “and”. While for a fun typography invite we prefer Ampersand.
It’s always good to come in early and share all your likes and preferences. Trust me every little bit counts, you never know what turns out to be an inspiration. Share your story, give your feedback and the invite will for sure turn out to be one of a kind.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
We do everything graphic and print related, from geo filters for snapchat to motion evite to photo booth props. We love working on new things so don’t hesitate in asking us for anything.
