Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Vivian, the Founder and Creative Director of For the Love of Stationery based in Sydney, NSW. Enjoy!

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

To be honest, I kind of fell into weddings. I didn’t have ANY intention of getting into the wedding industry as I’ve heard horror stories of bridezillas lol (Luckily I haven’t had any bad experience with that.. Ok maybe like a handful of brides who were really particular about their wedding invitations but other than that, most brides trust me with their work wholeheartedly!)

I got asked by my friends a few years ago to help them with their wedding stationery when I was doing freelance graphic design for small businesses at the time. After helping them with their weddings, I discovered my love for love (I know it sounds so cheesy lol). I realized that I really enjoyed being a small part of their special day & I would love to help more brides do the same.

*When brides order their photo wedding cards with me, a small proceed goes to help The A21 Campaign to rescue women from modern-day slavery.

What is your favorite color combination?

The combination of black and white is timeless as it creates a lot of emotions. However, I specialize in photo wedding stationery so I work with all kinds of colors which I love very much.

What is the most unique invitation you have designed?

I loved designing this invitation which was made out of the couple’s selfie. I love that it was so personal because it was one of their favorite moments captured together & that they are proud to show it off to the world. Their friends and family adored that wedding invitation very much!

Do you have a favorite typeface?

My favorite typeface has always been a handwritten one as it gives a sense of personal touch. You can see it throughout my work.

What is the most bizarre request you have received?

Many many years ago when I first started, a lovely couple asked me to create a welcome sign that was Star Wars themed. Not just theme with a typical Star Wars font but they were actually in the body of the characters lol It was quite bizarre to me at the time because, to be honest, I still have yet watched the movie once. I loved creating it for them though because it was obviously something that they have in common & bonded them together.

Ampersand or the word “and?”

Ok, this is hilarious!! Ampersand &&& all the way. I just love the style of it. But you know what my struggle is when I need to use it the second time in a sentence, I feel like it’s forbidden..

Any advice for brides?

Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful. Get your bridal party (aka your girl squad) to help you. That’s what they are here for, not just to hold your dress when you pee on the day :P You don’t need to do everything on your own. Try to enjoy the journey, before you know it the day you marry your best friend is here! x

Do you offer more than just stationery?

Not really. I also offer custom design service where brides receive the high-resolution files to print the cards themselves.
