Today’s wedding vendor interview is with Veronica of Pawfect for You, a unique company that specializes in wedding day pet care! Enjoy:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
My name is Veronica Silva and I’m the owner of Pawfect for You, a company that provides wedding day pet care for couples on their wedding day. We provide a fully custom package depending on what the clients want. Some brides/grooms hire us for an hour to bring their furry friend to their venue for a few photos, while others hire us for the full day. Regardless, we provide transportation, make sure the pet is fed, has plenty of water and treats, and remains calm (and of course clean) for their parents’ special day.

How did you get into the business?
I got the idea while I was planning my own wedding. I knew early on into the planning that we wanted our little man, JakeBear, to be a part of our day. After all, he is such a big part of our lives. However, I knew that meant someone needed to pick him up from our house, bring him to the ceremony location and then to the venue, and finally back home. Unfortunately, no dog walker or pet sitter was willing to do that, or spend so much time with us. I started to google various forms of “Wedding Day Pet Care NY” and came up with nothing. Our plans eventually did work out, but it got me thinking – what about other couples? The more research I did, I found it to be a big problem! I pitched the idea to some of my friends, and even some of my wedding vendors, and they all said what a great idea it was. There’s no other company in the tri state metro area that does this! And that’s how Pawfect was born.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
My absolute favorite is the end of the job when I say goodbye to the couple. Every couple has this look of “over the moon the happy.” Its like a combination of extreme gratitude and appreciation for making sure their furry friend was there and it all went well. Its one of those special expressions that you don’t get to see very often, so for me, I’m really grateful that I get to experience it.
If you could pick one unique product or service offering, which would be your favorite, and why?
The belly rubs :) they come for free with the job but all pets love belly rubs. It helps to keep them calm through the day, especially on a day that can be a little stressful for them.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to others just getting started in your field?
This goes for any vendor in the wedding industry, not just the unique service sector. First of all, smile and enjoy every second of the day. A wedding day is a truly magical day and you get to be a part of it! Secondly, try to learn something from every job you do. It’s not just about the feedback you get from your clients, but it’s what you can take away at the end of the day. How can you provide your product or service better? Over the last year, I’ve had to modify the bag that that I was carrying around to not only suit my needs, but to carry items that my clients’ pets might need on the day of. This has been a huge success – you’d be surprised at how often a jar of peanut butter comes in handy when you’re trying to get a dog’s attention for pictures :)
What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?
I love a good run on a warm day with our dog. During the summer, I’ll frequently go out for a 3-4 mile run with JakeBear. And every year we make sure to do at least one 5K.
Any great stories from working with a client?
I can’t say one sticks out more than another, but it is only the first year that we’re in business. In all honestly, they are all great!
What makes you different from others in your field?
Right now I can claim that I’m the only one in the field in the NY market, so that in and of itself makes me different from others.
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I love to see the brides that incorporate their pets into the first look and the ceremony. It’s especially adorable to see the pets walk down the aisle as part of the procession as either the ring bearer or flower “girl”.
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning their big day?
Don’t stress. Of course, that’s easier said than done. Having your pet be a part of your special day can be a very daunting task. We know that for many couples, it’s the first time they are going through this. Trying to figure it all out on our own is nerve-wrecking. Your pet is like your child. I say don’t stress, because we’ve been there. We know what you’re going through. Don’t worry – we will walk you through every step of the planning process and make sure that all bases are covered. We even make sure we have a secondary way of getting into your apartment or house if we need to pick up the pet there! Whatever you want, we’ll make it happen. If you’re on a budget, we’ll work with you. If you’re on a tight schedule, that’s not a problem. And if you’re not sure what you want, but you know you want your pet there – we will help you figure that out too!
